Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has taken operational control of Well RDS 147 in its Rudrasagar field in Sivasagar, Assam, to manage a gas blowout detected on Friday. Gas gushes were observed erupting from the well, prompting immediate safety protocols.
An ONGC team led by the Director (Technical & Field Services) is on site, mobilising equipment and fluids. A well control plan is underway, with pumping operations already commenced. Local residents evacuated from nearby areas as a precaution are being assisted by ONGC and district administration.
ONGC, India's largest crude oil and natural gas company, is working to ensure safety and restore control.
