Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried Set to Return For Animated 'Ted' Sequel
It's been 10 years since the release of the sequel to Seth MacFarlane's popular movie Ted starring Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried. Following the success of Ted, which came out in 2012 featuring Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and MacFarlane (who voiced Ted), the sequel starring Seyfried was a fun encore in 2015. The group from Ted 2 is now set to run it back for another go-round, but this time, it'll be in a slightly different fashion. According to Discussing Film, an animated sequel series to the Ted films is being created — and it'll star Wahlberg, Seyfried and MacFarlane once again. The film, which features the foul-mouthed teddy bear named Ted, will not only feature Wahlberg and Seyfried but also Jessica Barth, along with MacFarlane. They'll reprise their roles as John, Sam, Tami-Lynne and Ted, the outspoken bear who stole the hearts of America (sort of). According to Variety, Kyle Mooney will voice a new character named Apollo, while Liz Richman will voice Ruth. It is slated to be aired on Peacock and will mark the second television series focused on Ted, as the streaming service currently airs a live-action prequel. As Variety points out, the prequel series, launched in January 2024, broke records as Peacock's most-watched original show. MacFarlane also voices Ted in that series. The initial Ted film was a tremendous success, pulling in nearly $550 million at the box office, while the sequel grossed over $215 million.

‘Ted' Animated Series From Seth MacFarlane a Go at Peacock
After two movies and a prequel series, the world of Ted is growing again. Peacock has greenlit an animated Ted series based on the movies from Seth MacFarlane. The show will sit alongside the prequel series on Peacock, which premiered in January 2024 and has been renewed for a second season. Natasha Lyonne's Gravitational Pull MacFarlane will continue to provide the voice of Ted — a teddy bear brought to life by a boy's wish, now grown up and bearing the hallmarks of a boorish Seth MacFarlane character. Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth will also star, reprising their roles from the Ted movies (the show will be set after the events of 2015's Ted 2), along with Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman. The live-action Ted prequel had a solid first season for Peacock, making the top 10 original streaming series rankings three times during its run and outpacing all other original comedies on streaming for two months. It also had a strong showing on Sky in the U.K. MacFarlane told The Hollywood Reporter when the prequel series debuted that he was satisfied with where the Ted movies ended, but 'the idea of doing a prequel was a different case. It wasn't something that I came up with. Universal actually proposed the idea to me of doing a Ted series. I hadn't really thought about going back to that character until they mentioned it, and I said, 'Really? Isn't that outrageously expensive?' They stayed true to their word and did not compromise the quality.' Like the live-action Ted series, the animated show comes from Universal Studio Group's UCP, MRC and MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door Productions. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, executive producers of the prequel, will be showrunners and exec produce with MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson of Fuzzy Door and Claudia Katz of animation studio Rough Draft. Ted Sequel Series With Mark Wahlberg Ordered at Peacock — But There's a Twist
Despite the massive success of 2012's Ted and its 2015 sequel, a third movie was never a guarantee. 'You know, there hadn't ever really been any serious talks about doing a Ted 3,' franchise creator Seth MacFarlane previously told TVLine. 'After Ted 2, we weren't sure if there was still an insatiable appetite for more Ted, and that coincided with my desire to go do The Orville. So, it kind of ceased to be a part of the conversation for a while.' More from TVLine Poker Face EPs Map Out Where Charlie's Headed After That Surprise Twist - Plus, Grade the Premiere!
