Primark selling £6 tops that 'look like they're from Zara'

Shoppers have said they'll be 'braving' the discount store to get 'every colour' Primark shoppers have claimed that a versatile summer top could easily be mistaken for something worth double the price from Zara. People say that the top is "so cute" and can easily be worn on its own during warmer weather or layered up whenever a summer breeze sets in. Shared on TikTok by staff at the brand's Trafford Centre branch, they said: "New £6 second skin vests!" The clip showed off an organised display of the £6 vests in a variety of different colours, including black, white, brown and soft pink. ‌ The sleeveless top has a high back with a scooping front. For £6 each, people have been saying that they want "every colour", which would set fans of the top back up to £24 if all the different styles are added to a shopping basket. ‌ A fifth posted: "Ooh Zara [alternative]!" And, one more shopper posted: "They're so cute!" At the time of writing this article, the tops were not listed online for shoppers to browse or take advantage of click and collect, which is now available in all Great Britain stores. One shopper asked on TikTok: "Are these online?" Someone responded that they were not and she said: "Guess we're gonna have to brave busy Primark!" Shoppers can check the nearest Primark by looking up their postcode in the online store locator. As the item itself isn't online, people cannot check stock availability in advance like some items, so it may be a gamble if your size and colour of choice are in stock. ‌ In other Primark news, shoppers have been raving about more items that have landed in time for summer. People were quickly in love with a 'stylish' £5 bag that could be mistaken for a £90 Ted Baker version. Also, Primark shoppers claimed that a "stunning" £25 dress that is part of the new summer seasonal range looks "classic" yet "bold". And, the discount fashion store has also brought back the 'top of the summer' with a 'brilliant' design for £8.

Primark's 'stylish' £5 bag could be mistaken for £90 Ted Baker version

The Primark handbag looks similar to one by a designer brand, but there's a significant price difference Primark is selling a "stylish" £5 bag that could easily be mistaken for a more expensive version by a designer label. Popular with shoppers looking for budget-friendly fashion, the high street retailer could have another hit with its latest handbag. Its Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag resembles Ted Baker's Stina Double Zip Croc Effect Mini Camera Bag, yet has a much smaller price tag. The Ted Baker bag is currently fetching £89 online, offering Primark shoppers a hefty saving on a similar style. Both black bags share key features such as a croc-effect finish, a cross-body strap, a zip fastening across the top of the bag, and gold hardware. ‌ The style is so similar that shoppers could pair the black Primark bag with any outfit they'd plan to wear with the Ted Baker bag. While both bags are small and sleek, they differ somewhat in shape. ‌ Both bags have a rectangular shape with rounded edges, but the Ted Baker style is more angular, with a flat front panel. It also has two zipped compartments, and it features the luxury brand's logo. According to the product descriptions, neither bag is real leather. Primark's bag is made from 100% PVC-coated textile, and Ted Baker's alternative is 100% polyurethane. Primark describes its style as a "textured crossbody bag with zip closure and a compact shape for easy everyday wear." The full description reads: "Add a sleek finish to your look with this textured zip top crossbody bag. Its stylish, raised texture gives it a modern, elevated feel. "The secure zip top closure keeps your essentials safe, while the crossbody strap makes it easy to go hands-free. Compact but roomy enough for your phone, keys and everyday bits, it's a great pick for day-to-night plans. Whether you're heading out for errands or dressing up for the evening, this bag adds an effortless style boost!" Meanwhile, John Lewis' description reads: "From Ted Baker, this cross-body bag features an adjustable strap. Complete with two zipped compartments." It adds that the bag has one internal slip pocket. ‌ Unlike Primark, the retailer's website allows shoppers to leave reviews. The bag has an average rating of 4.6 out of five. One happy reviewer said: "Beautiful Bag. Good size to put phone keys make up and small purse in. Its like the Tardis. Small on the outside, big inside. Comfortable straps. Easy, smart and great price." A second thought: "This really is a perfect 'little black bag'. Just large enough for the bare essentials - keys, phone and a comb - the two sections ensure things are easily accessible. The bag is very well finished off, with gold trim on the inside. As well as being stylish, it seems robust, with quality zips and a good length strap." But another wrote: "Although outer dimensions are available and I thought would be suitable for my needs the inside is very small. "I'm not able to fit my Samsung in there (unless I remove the case) and could just about but a few cards, keys and maybe a small hand sanitizer. Strap seems much cheaper than other Ted Baker bags I've owned. Lovely looking but impractical."

Iconic high street chain to shut its last ever store in just HOURS after more than 140 years trading

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) ONE of Britain's oldest department stores will shut its last remaining branch after more than 140 years of trading. Beales, which first opened in Bournemouth in 1881, has launched a closing down sale before they shut the doors for the last time in hours. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Beales in Poole was the last remaining department store Credit: Alamy Beales at the Dolphin Centre shopping mall in Poole will close for good on May 31. Retail industry bosses said the closure of the historic store 'illustrates the devastating impact' of the rise in national insurance contributions and the higher minimum wage. Beales chief executive, Tony Brown told BBC: "We've looked at everything - these are not decisions you take likely. "We looked at a whole raft of redundancies but to get to where we needed to be the shop itself wouldn't be able to open most of the time because we wouldn't have enough people. "Obviously, it's devastating especially for the staff who have tried so hard over the last five years." The retailer has also come under pressure from shifting shopping habits in recent years, with younger shoppers turning away from large high street stores towards online rivals. In January 2020, Beales tumbled into administration, leading to the closure of 22 of its 23 shops. The shop in Poole reopened the same year after relocating to the shopping centre and remained the only Beales store standing. The NHS clinic was set up on the top floor of the department store in 2021 to reduce waiting times but will now move to St Mary's hospital on June 5. Beales operated 41 department stores in market towns across the UK at its peak, selling a range of furniture, fashion, toys and cosmetics. Popular retailer to RETURN 13 years after collapsing into administration and shutting 236 stores The high street chain shut its store in Southport last September just three years after the site reopened. It comes after a series of store closures by The Original Factory Shop with another 10 shops closing in the coming weeks. Other businesses have warned of price rises and closures as a result of the Budget tax hikes. New Look began ramping up its store closure programme prior top April's National Insurance increase. Approximately a quarter of the retailer's 364 stores are at risk when their leases expire. FAMOUS NAMES GONE FROM THE HIGH STREET Beales is not the only brand that's been wiped from the high street in recent years. Ted Baker, fell into administration last March after years of turmoil. At the time it had 46 shops in the UK employing around 975 people. The last stores shut in August after failing to secure a full rescue. It was relaunched as an online brand in the UK and Europe after a partnership with United Legwear & Apparel Co. Flooring retailer Carpetright filed for administration in July after efforts to turnaround the struggling firm were derailed by a cyber attack. The business had 1,800 staff and 273 shops across the country before going bust. Around 54 stores were snapped up by its arch rival Tapi Carpets & Floors, which also bought its brand name and continues to run the brand online. LloydsPharmacy, once the UK's second biggest community pharmacy chain, went into liquidation in late January 2024 with debts of £293million. The previous year it had closed all of its pharmacies inside Sainsbury's and divided its 1,000 pharmacy estate into packages of hundreds of stores that it then sold to rivals in smaller deals. There are no more LloydsPharmacy-branded sites on the high street, but it continues to operate online. Fans of Paperchase were devastated when the retailer disappeared from the high street in April 2023. Its 134 shops all closed after it fell into administration, including its concession stands in Next and Selfridges. However, supermarket giant Tesco bought the rights to the brand and the brand is now stocked at 250 Tesco supermarkets. M&Co, previously called Mackay's, fell into administration for the second time in two years in December 2022. M&Co's brand and intellectual property were sold to Yours Clothing. The chain's 170 shops were not part of the deal though and all sites closed their doors at the start of 2024. Popular chain Cath Kidston, which once boasted hundreds of shops around the world, closed the last of its stores for good in June 2023. The brand was bought by Next after falling into administration in the March - but the sale didn't include the physical shops and remaining sotres closed that summer. You can buy Cath Kidstone products on the Next website Topshop disappeared after falling into administration during the pandemic. The brand was bought by Asos and is now sold online. The ecommerce giant has teased a return to bricks and mortar though.

'I found a £25 perfume at Boots that's like holiday in a bottle'

Ted Baker is best known for it's floral fashion designs and indulgent bathing products, but their latest launch is set to be a hit with fragrance fans I'm a frequent fragrance rotator, and I love to match my daily perfume pick to my mood, outfit, and the weather. As the temperature rises, I've found myself moving away from the light, soft and airy scents of spring and into more tropical aromas, with one £25 bottle fast becoming a go-to. Ted Baker's new fragrance Kasia has landed just in time for summer, and it's every bit the sunny, mood-boosting escape it promises to be. Inspired by 'golden hour warmth and carefree optimism', it delivers good vibes from the first spritz and is the ultimate 'holiday in a bottle' scent. It's a bright, breezy eau de toilette that brings together tropical fruit, creamy florals, and soft, woody notes, all while managing to stay refreshingly sophisticated. It opens up with juicy lychee bringing a slightly tart sweetness, giving way to a floral core of jasmine and pink hibiscus. But perhaps the most standout note is the creamy coconut, which manages to stay warm and comforting, without veering into sugary body spray territory. Further cementing its status as a mature and sophisticated scent, it's beautifully blended with soft vanilla, amber and sandalwood, which gives it a little bit of an edge. The perfume is powered by mood-boosting fragrance technology, meaning it really is 'joy in a bottle'. It's formulated using MoodScentz+ technology from Givaudan – a science-backed innovation proven to enhance feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Ted Baker isn't the only brand designing scents with specific emotions in mind, though. Charlotte Tilbury has a collection of six perfumes, each aiming to evoke a specific feeling, from Calm Bliss to Joyphoria. Charlotte's Collection of Emotions starts at £20 per bottle, although a full-sized bottle costs over £100. By comparison, Ted Baker's spritz is incredibly affordable, coming in at £25 for 50ml and £34 for 100ml. It may not have the longevity of a more concentrated eau de parfum, but it's a fantastic budget-friendly option and one you can afford to be more liberal with. Another popular option with a coconut-centric scent is the Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk. It evokes the feeling of salty skin, sun lotion, and coastal breezes, with similar coconut-vanilla warmth for £60. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62, £38, is richer and sweeter than Kasia, with pistachio and caramel notes, but still in the same feel-good, vacation-ready family. And for many fragrance fans, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess is considered the OG summer scent, with coconut milk, amber, and florals; a little more decadent but in the same golden, beachy lane. If you're looking for an affordable signature for the warmer months, Kasia is an easy yes. Whether you're tossing it into your beach bag or spritzing it before a summer coffee date, it's guaranteed to garner compliments.
