Thunderstorms threaten to end heatwave as UK could be hotter than Ibiza
& Ted Hennessey Parts of eastern England are predicted to reach 30C on Friday, potentially making it the hottest day of 2025 and warmer than Ibiza, Mykonos or Los Angeles. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms later on Friday, affecting London, Wales, and various regions of England. Areas within the warning zone may experience torrential downpours, with 30–50mm of rain expected in a short time, along with hail, gusty winds, and possible flooding. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow heat-health alert until 8am on Sunday for the east of England, East Midlands, London, and the south east. Heavy rain is predicted for the north of England, Northern Ireland, and parts of Scotland on Saturday, with afternoon thunderstorms further south.
