'Do not use' warning issued as popular children's toy recalled over safety fears

An urgent warning has been issued for Irish parents after a popular teddy bear toy sold online was recalled as it may pose a choking risk to children. Ireland's Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued an alert on Tuesday announcing that a safety issue has been identified with a Teddy Bear Plush Toy sold on the TEMU platform. The risk reported to the CCPC is 'choking' as the seams can come apart. According to the consumer watchdog, the fibrous stuffing material is then accessible and can be ingested by a small child which poses a choking hazard. The model number is YJCRIEIG, while the identification number is 7131914370 and the Goods ID is 601099546642677. The CCPC said all batches of the product are affected and it is understood there are approximately 123 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. Anyone who believes they may have purchased the product is told to stop using it immediately and make sure it is out of reach of children. The CCPC states: "Customers should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. "Temu has contacted affected consumers regarding this recall on behalf of the seller, and reimbursements have been issued to those impacted." Anyone who has not received a refund or has further questions or concerns about this product is urged to contact Temu's Dedicated Customer Service team by following the link here. This warning comes just days after an urgent recall was issued on a popular story book for babies over safety fears. The CCPC announced on Thursday that Hodder & Stoughton Limited T/A Hachette Children's Group is carrying out a recall of First Baby Days: Bath Time, Bath Book. The risk reported to the CCPC is ingestion of flakes and ink. The colour coating of the product can begin to come away from the surface in water, causing flaking. These soft ink flakes may then be ingested. A separate recall notice was issued Thursday on a popular children's swing amid fears that a child could become 'trapped' and suffer serious injuries. The CCPC confirmed that KBT NV has issued a recall on its TriX Plastic swing after a safety issue was identified with the product. According to the CCPC, the risk presented by this product is injuries. Specifically, the product has accessible openings and holes, in which "a child can become trapped and suffer injuries".
