The Tedi Bear Clinic is aiming to help children who suffer from child abuse
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has proclaimed April 28 as Children's Advocacy Center Day. This effort is part of raising awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Tedi Bear Clinic is a children's advocacy center that is a part of ECU Health. The clinic has responded to over 1,000 children in need over the past year, they are also striving to raise awareness for child abuse.
'What makes it worth it for us this day, especially being significant, is that it's being recognized. A lot of what we do, people don't want to talk about it,' Clinic Director Luwanda Todd said. 'These people don't want to shine a light on it. But we need people to talk about it. We need people to be educated in it so we can prevent it. Child abuse is preventable.'
