Tejon Street project progressing quickly
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Tejon Street Glow Up project has made quick progress since it began in late March, with one block already completed as of Tuesday, April 29.
Downtown Colorado Springs announced that the 9.5-foot-wide flex zone on the east side of Tejon Street from Colorado Avenue to AdAmAn Alley is complete. The new concrete with 'window pane' texture reportedly runs adjacent to the future 10-foot-wide sidewalks.
'We are so excited about the improvements in front of us,' said Meredith Klube, managing partner at Jack Quinn's Irish Pub & Restaurant. 'This is a perfect time to come down, park in one of the garages for free, and have a great meal in our traditional Irish atmosphere. We are easy to get to and excited to show off how cool things are going to be.
Some of the new concrete curbs and gutters have also been completed. Now, excavation and placement of infrastructure under the future sidewalk and amenity zone are underway. This will support healthy tree roots, allowing the new street trees to flourish. The trees will be strong enough to support the continuation of the Business Improvement District's tree lighting through the block.
While construction continues, businesses are open, and the project is providing safe, accessible walkways. Businesses in the affected block also have parking vouchers for two free hours in the parking garage.
