Telangana: Singareni to venture into other minerals and crucial minerals field
Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Singareni Collieries company (SCCL) Limited, a government-owned-coal mining corporation in India, has decided to venture into the field of other minerals and crucial minerals. We have already established consulting agencies and initiated studies on opportunities, said Singareni Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day celebrations held at Kothagudem. The central government also gives high priority to the production of key minerals, and accordingly, Singareni has decided to enter this sector, he said. Recently, an understanding was reached to jointly produce key minerals in Australia's Queensland as a joint venture company, not just within the country but internationally as well, he informed. Under this agreement, in addition to the 1200 MW thermal power currently being produced by Singareni Thermal Power Plant, we are planning to establish another 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant at the same location, he said. Similarly, in the coming future, we will set up another 1600 MW plant near Naini Block (Odisha) and with this, our total thermal power generated by Singareni will exceed 4000 MW, he said. We are also planning to complete two phases of solar power plants totaling 504 MW within Singareni, including a 300 MW floating solar plant above Manair Dam and another 500 MW floating solar plant above Mallanna Sagar, he informed. Studies have also begun on the construction of pumped storage power plants and wind power generation, he said. Near Manuguru area, at Pagiduru, a geothermal power plant has already been constructed experimentally and electricity production has commenced, the CMD said based on this, the management has decided to establish a 200-megawatt geothermal plant there as well. Formation Day celebrations: Telangana salutes its heroes and heritage
Marking 11 years since its hard-won Statehood, Telangana celebrated its Formation Day on Monday with ceremonies that honoured the past and showcased the State's spirit. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led the tributes, laying flowers at the Martyrs' Memorial in Gun Park, Hyderabad, in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of a separate State. He later presided over the official celebrations at Parade Ground in Secunderabad, which reflected the pride, resilience and cultural vibrancy of Telangana and its people. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud also paid homage at the Martyrs' Memorial in Gun Park, urging the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals of martyrs. He said their sacrifices should continue to serve as a beacon for future generations. Leaders from various political parties and organisations also flocked to the memorial to pay their respects. At Raj Bhavan, Governor Jishnu Deva Verma led the Telangana Formation Day celebrations by honouring individuals for their exceptional contributions to literature, culture and the arts. Among those felicitated were renowned Chindu Yakshagana artist Gaddam Sammaiah, poet Antaadupula Nagaraju, the celebrated Carnatic duo Hyderabad Brothers Raghavachari and and D. Seshachari, folk art conservator Chintapalli Vasundhara Reddy, senior painter CV Ambaji, and Mamidi Harikrishna — a senior government official, poet, and documentary filmmaker.

Congress, BRS and BJP conduct Formation Day celebrations
Telangana Formation Day celebrations were conducted enthusiastically at the headquarters of all political parties here on Monday. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud hoisted the Tricolour at Gandhi Bhavan. He thanked party leader Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the aspirations of millions of people by carving out the State of Telangana. Addressing the gathering, he listed the welfare and development initiatives undertaken by the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the State. The BRS marked the State Formation Day with grand celebrations across Telangana and abroad. Party senior leaders, MLAs, MLCs and activists gathered in large numbers at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan, where Opposition Leader in the Council S. Madhusudhana Chari in the presence of several senior leaders hoisted the national flag, the BRS flag and paid floral tributes to Telangana Thalli statue, Professor K. Rama Rao attended the Telangana Formation Day and BRS silver jubilee celebrations organised on a grand scale by BRS NRI USA in Dallas in the United States. After a protracted agitation for Statehood, Telangana came into existence on June 2, 2014, following the bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Efforts are on to ramp up electricity infra to meet burgeoning power demand: Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka
Power infrastructure is being augmented to meet the burgeoning demand for power as it is estimated that the peak demand will touch 24,215 MW by 2030 in Telangana, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. He was speaking at the Telangana Formation Day main ceremony after hoisting the national flag at the Police Parade Grounds in Khammam on Monday (June 2). 'I pay rich tributes to all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle for a separate Telangana State,' he said, outlining various welfare and development initiatives of the State government for comprehensive development of Telangana with a thrust on job creation and inclusive growth. He added that the Telangana Rising-2047 designed under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will transform the very fabric of the State. He noted that the State has recorded all-time high electricity demand in 2024 when the peak electricity demand reached 16,877 MW and the annual maximum reached 17,162 MW. Attributing this to the continuous development efforts by the government, he said a five-year power action plan has been formulated to meet this growing demand. As part of the action plan, new electricity substations are being set up and transmission network is being strengthened with a futuristic perspective. He said green energy plants with a cumulative capacity of 20,000 MW will be established by 2030 as part of the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy. In pursuit of ambitious renewable energy goals, plans are afoot to set up a 1,000 MW solar power plant through self-help groups as part of Indira Mahila Shakti Programme. In the first phase, a pilot project of 64 MW (2MW solar power plants in each district) will soon be operational, he said. On the district-specific development initiatives, Mr. Vikramarka said a plan is in the offing to develop a ropeway at Khammam Fort and other tourist facilities with an outlay of ₹29 crore. Additionally, ₹2.5 crore has been sanctioned for the development and accommodation facilities at the historic Buddhist Mahastupa in Nelakondapalli, he announced. Earlier, Mr. Vikramarka along with Khammam Collector Muzammil Khan and Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt paid floral tributes to the Telangana martyrs memorial in Khammam city.

Revanth Reddy sets 2047 goal for Telangana to reach USD 3 trillion economy
On the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the state is aiming to become a United States Dollar (USD) 3 trillion economy by the year 2047, aligning with India's national goal of reaching a USD 30 trillion at the celebrations, Reddy stated that Telangana aspires to contribute 10 percent to the national Gross National Product (GDP) by 2047. He introduced the 'Telangana Rising 2047' policy document, which outlines a strategic roadmap for growth in key sectors such as energy, tourism, industries, investments, and to the Chief Minister, the state's goal is to achieve a USD 1 trillion economy in the next 10 years, and then expand to USD 3 trillion by 2047. Telangana holds 2.5% of India's population and contributes 5% to the national GDP, a figure the state aims to double in the coming decades. Reddy called on professionals across fields including doctors, engineers, bureaucrats, and business leaders to support the state's part of urban development plans, he announced efforts to elevate Hyderabad to global standards. Projects include the revival of the Musi river and the transformation of Bapu Ghat into an international-level memorial named 'Gandhi Sarovar'.The Chief Minister also unveiled plans for a massive urban development project called Bharat Future City, to be built near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Spanning 30,000 acres, the city will host specialised hubs such as AI City, Sports City, Life Sciences, Health City, and Pharma City.
