Telangana government tells Supreme Court it is committed to sustainable land development

HYDERABAD: The state government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court affirming its commitment to develop the Kancha Gachibowli land in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner, fully aligned with applicable legal and ecological standards. The affidavit explained how the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), which is overseeing the master plan for the area, is prioritising the conservation of ecologically and historically significant landmarks. Specific protective measures are being taken to preserve features such as the iconic Mushroom Rock. TGIIC has also pledged to safeguard Chilakala Kunta, ensuring the maintenance of a buffer zone up to full tank level (FTL) to protect the water body and its surrounding ecosystem. These assurances were made in the affidavit submitted by Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, ahead of a scheduled hearing in the Supreme Court on Thursday before a bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai. The case pertains to alleged ecological damage in 400 acres within the Kancha Gachibowli area. According to the affidavit, TGIIC is identifying, marking and preserving all non-exempt trees in the development area. In instances where in-situ preservation is not feasible, the agency will relocate and rehabilitate the trees following scientific and ecological guidelines. 'As part of its environmental stewardship, TGIIC will intensify compensatory plantation efforts related to the current development. These plantations will not only offset any loss of trees but will also enhance the area's green cover and ecological resilience,' the affidavit states.

Kavitha fires salvo at TG govt for plotting to mortgage TGIIC lands

Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha on Monday alleged that the Telangana government was planning to convert the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) into a public company and was conspiring to mortgage 1.75 lakh acres in the stock market. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Kavitha alleged that the State government had taken loans to the tune of Rs 1.8 lakh crore in last 16 months only to pay bills of Rs 1 lakh crore to big contractors. She further alleged that CM Revanth Reddy had taaken 20 per cent commission for the bills paid to contractors, and accumulated Rs 20,000 crore in his own treasury. 'Huge bills were paid to a company belonging to a State minister and to Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) Company. I have specific evidence in this regard,' she said. Kavitha alleged that the State government issued a secret GO to convert TGIIC from a private limited company to a public limited company. The government's idea was to take loans of thousands of crores through the stock exchange by changing the status of the company. She asked the government to explain what was the need to mortgaging Telangana lands on the stock exchange? She was furious that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was not thinking about the future of the people of Telangana. She demanded that the government withdraw its decision to convert TGIIC into a public limited company. Meanwhile, Kavitha recalled that CM Revanth Reddy incurred debts of more than Rs 1.8 lakh crore in the last 16 months of his rule, but did not implement any scheme. She said, 'The government has not fully implemented a single scheme with the debts incurred, nor had he spent it on development. Only Rs 80,000 crore was utilised by the government to repay the loans taken by the previous government.' She asked the government to explain where the remaining Rs 1 lakh crore had gone. She said that if she was wrong, the government should release a white paper.

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu unveils plan for industrial parks in every Telangana constituency

HYDERABAD: In a bid to promote industrialisation, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu announced on Tuesday a plan to establish industrial parks meeting international standards in every constituency across the state. 'These parks will prioritise the growth of MSMEs and support young entrepreneurs from Telangana,' he said. The announcement came after the minister laid the foundation stone for the 'Mobility Valley Park,' a project under the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) in Yenkathla village, Mominpet mandal, Vikarabad district. Spanning 862 acres with an investment of Rs 44.3 crore, the park is projected to create jobs for approximately 10,000 youth. Sridhar Babu stressed that industrial growth should extend beyond Hyderabad, encouraging investments across various regions of Telangana. 'The government is fully committed to bolstering MSMEs through a dedicated policy,' he added. Highlighting misinformation campaigns against Telangana, the minister said that while many industrialists are keen to invest in the state, some individuals are spreading false narratives to hinder progress. He urged them to stop obstructing the state's development. The event was attended by Speaker G Prasad Kumar, Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MLC P Mahender Reddy, MLAs T Rammohan Reddy and B Manohar Reddy, and TGIIC chairperson Nirmala Jagga Reddy, among others.
