One Person Seriously Injured, Three Canines Die in Temple House Fire

TEMPLE (FOX 44) — Temple Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire in the 300 block of Hickory Road at approximately 4:23 p.m. on Thursday afternoon — where a resident suffered life-threatening injuries and three canine companions perished. Upon arrival at the single-story residence, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames engulfing both the front and back of the home. Crews acted swiftly, beginning to extinguish the blaze within three minutes of dispatch. Their rapid response enabled them to locate the resident and the three dogs inside a back bedroom and bring them out of the burning structure. The resident was immediately transported to a local emergency room for critical care. Sadly, despite the quick rescue efforts, the three canines did not survive their injuries. No other individuals were injured during the incident. Temple Fire and Rescue deployed significant resources, including 15 units and 29 personnel, to combat the fire. The Temple Police Department, Temple EMS, and Temple Animal Services also provided crucial support at the scene. The cause of this tragic fire is currently under active investigation by the Temple Fire Marshal's Office. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
