Highly Touted Star Running Back Sends Strong Message on Tennessee Football
Highly Touted Star Running Back Sends Strong Message on Tennessee Football originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One of the top running backs in the 2027 recruiting class was back in Knoxville, Tennessee this weekend. While talking about the visit with On3's Matt Ray, he couldn't stop saying great things about the Tennessee Volunteers. Advertisement 'This visit was just special,' four-star running back Tyson Robison told Ray. 'Just sitting in the position meetings and watching different things. Just talking to Coach Sims and Coach Heupel was just great. Coach Heupel just connects with players, and I love it.' Robinson suggested the more he is Knoxville, the more he likes the program, which now sits at or near the top of his school rankings. "High. High," Robinson said when asked where Tennessee is in his recruiting after the weekend. "They are very high for me." Advertisement 'Each time here is just different,' Robinson added. 'Like my first time here, we talked about inside zone, and we just keep talking about more and more, like this time we talked about blocking schemes and triangle schemes. "Just coaching points that you can take and learn, so I think it is more beneficial to me.' Ray reported Friday that Robinson is already planning two more visits to Knoxville. The running back "hopes to return" to Tennessee's campus again in June. Robinson is also planning to be at Neyland Stadium for the matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs this fall. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Robinson rated as the No. 3 running back and No. 2 Mississippi prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. Highly Touted Playmaker Sends Clear Message on Tennessee Football
Highly Touted Playmaker Sends Clear Message on Tennessee Football originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Volunteers have made the running game a significant priority under head coach Josh Heupel over the last few years. That is likely to remain the case going forward. Advertisement So naturally, the Volunteers are already targeting the top in-state running back in the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star running back David Gabriel Georges has his eyes on Tennessee as well. Georges was back in Knoxville, Tennessee again in early June and raved about how well his visit went. "It was great as always," Georges told On3's Steve Wiltfong on June 5. "I've been up there a couple times now. I'm familiar with the place and coaching staff. It's always a good vibe. "The Vols look like they are building something special, and they see me as a key contributor. That is pretty cool." Tennessee Volunteers football head coach Josh Heupel© Samantha Madar/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images In addition to being the top Tennessee running back in the 2027 class, Georges is the No. 2 in-state prospect overall according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Advertisement Furthermore, Georges is the No. 4 running back and 43rd-ranked player in the class. The Volunteers have been hosting 2027 recruits in recent weeks. Many of the program's top 2027 targets were in Knoxville over the first few days of June. Tennesse has yet to land a commitment in the future class. For 2026, the Volunteers have eight verbal commits but none of them are running backs. Tennessee signed two running backs in the 2025 class -- three-star players Daune Morris and Justin Baker. The Volunteers also landed running back transfer Star Thomas from the Duke Blue Devils. Tennessee Football Gets Good News on Coveted Running Back
Tennessee Football Gets Good News on Coveted Running Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Then there were two. On3's Steve Wiltfong reported last week that that's the situation with five-star running back Savion Hiter. Advertisement 'I still think it's Michigan and Tennessee when all said and done,' Wiltfong said during his Whiparound show on June 2. 'Those are the programs I'm watching the most right now. "I think they're the programs that will take that recruitment up another level from an NIL standpoint if they have to in order to land one of the most coveted players on their board, respectively.' In addition to the Tennessee Volunteers and Michigan Wolverines, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Georgia Bulldogs are in Hiter's top four schools. Tennessee Volunteers football head coach Josh Heupel© Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images The running back plans to see all four programs on official visits. But according to Wiltfong, the two visits to closely monitor are to Michigan and Tennessee. Advertisement Hiter, though, pushed back on Wiltfong's report that he is down to only two schools. "Where does this stuff come from when I've done 0 interviews," Hiter posted as a quote tweet to a Wiltfong video on X. Hiter will see the Wolverines first of his presumed "final two" during the weekend of June 13. The running back will then visit Knoxville, Tennessee the following weekend -- June 20. Wiltfong reported both Tennessee and Michigan have Hiter very high on their priority lists. 'I think Savion Hiter is the number one player overall on Michigan's board,' added Wiltfong. Hiter is the No. 1 running back and top Virginia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The running back is also the No. 17 overall recruit in the class.
