People urged to plan travel for Liberation Day
People planning on attending Liberation Day in Guernsey have been advised to familiarise themselves with the parking and travel arrangements.
The organising committee said delays could be expected from 5 May to Liberation day on 9 May due "to the infrastructure needed for some of the Liberation Day events".
It said a free park and ride service would be running in St Peter Port on Liberation Day and additional car parking spaces would be available.
Organisers said islanders were encouraged to walk, cycle, take the bus or car-share "wherever possible" for the event.
The end of Crown Pier will be partly closed on 6-7 May with no access on 8-11 May
No access to The Albany from Wednesday 7 May until Sunday 11 May
North Beach will be closed from Thursday 8 May until the evening of Saturday 10 May
On Liberation Day, the seafront will be closed to road users from the Weighbridge roundabout to the slaughterhouse roundabout
No public vehicle access to Salerie Corner, Albert Pier and Castle Emplacement
The cavalcade will be operated as a rolling road closure as vehicles pass along the route
From approximately 2pm to 4pm on 9 May, the coast road will be closed from the Longstore into St Peter Port and access down The Grange will also be suspended
Organisers said more than 350 vehicles were expected in the cavalcade and advised drivers to avoid the cavalcade route starting from the Vaugrat campsite between 13:30 and 16:00.
On Thursday 8 May, a free park and ride service will operate from the field at the top of the Val de Terres to Havelet Bay from 08:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 18:00
Additional services will be added to the route on Friday 9 May, from the main entrance of Waitrose on the Rohais and Waitrose/B&Q in Admiral Park from 09:00 to 23:00
At Admiral Park, users are asked to park in the main car park before meeting the coach in the bus layby on Elizabeth Avenue. Le Petit Train will also run a free shuttle from this location
Islanders are advised the park and ride services from the two Waitrose stores will be suspended between approximately 14:00 to 16:00 when the cavalcade arrives in St Peter Port
If vehicles are left overnight in either of the Waitrose stores, they must be removed by 08:00 on Saturday 10 May when Terre a L'Amende will apply
A free Liberation Day bus service will be running throughout the day based on a Saturday timetable, with variations to accommodate the Liberation Cavalcade.
Organisers said buses were expected to be busy while events are taking place and encouraged users to leave plenty of time for their journey.
It said the bus timetable would be published before the end of April to allow people to plan their travel.
Liberation Day organisers said an additional car parking, bike parking and an overview of access arrangements, including blue badge parking was available on its website.
