Arrest made in hit and run that seriously injured 12-year-old child
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Rochester police have made an arrest related to a hit and run on Avenue D that left a 12-year-old with serious injuries.
On April 16, police said the 12-year-old and his father were riding scooters on Bauman Street when the boy failed to stop before entering an intersection and was struck by a vehicle traveling down Avenue D.
Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped briefly and yelled at the boy's father before leaving the scene. The boy was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-altering injuries.
On April 24, Lake Section officers found the vehicle in a parking lot on Lexington Avenue. Detectives searched the vehicle and gathered evidence.
Detectives also identified the driver of the vehicle to be Terry Britt, 42. At around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning Britt was arrested outside of an apartment on Lexington Avenue.
Britt was issued appearance tickets for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator (2nd and Infraction). The aggravated Unlicensed Operator charge is due to Britt having his license revoked after a DWI conviction.
Britt is scheduled to be arraigned in Rochester City Court on May 21 at 9:30 a.m.
