Terry Janiak, a 66-year-old resident who lives across from the airport, said the crash appeared to happen close to the museum and short of the runway. "The cockpit area looked pretty rough on the airplane," he told The New York witness, Sheila Stone, 57, who has lived across from the airport for two decades, was sitting on her back porch with her dogs when the plane flew unusually close overhead. She initially feared the plane might hit one of the tall trees in her backyard.
