CMPD looking for driver of fatal hit-and-run in north Charlotte
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Police are looking for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in north Charlotte on Monday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Around 1:20 a.m. on April 28, officers responded to a hit-and-run with injury on the 8000 block of Old Statesville Road. When they arrived, they found 53-year-old Terry Mitchell unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. PREVIOUS: Fatal crash involving pedestrian closes north Charlotte road Investigators believe Mitchell was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a 2017-2019 grey or charcoal Honda CR-V going north. Police said the driver did not stop or call 911 after the crash. Law enforcement is actively working to identify the driver who fled the scene.
