Rahul Tewatia yells behind Jasprit Bumrah, MI pacer snaps with 'don't say this to me' in tense verbal exchange

The Mullanpur crowd witnessed a high-octane Eliminator clash in IPL 2025 on Friday as Mumbai Indians held their nerve in the death overs to edge past Gujarat Titans by 20 runs and march into Qualifier 2. But amid the crunch moments of the match, a fleeting verbal exchange between Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Tewatia added drama to the already tensed contest. The incident took place in the 18th over of the GT innings. Tewatia, who had earlier launched Bumrah for a six, looked eager to seize the moment again. However, after failing to connect with the next ball, Tewatia uttered a few words in frustration that seemed to catch Bumrah's ear. "Don't say this to me," Bumrah shot back, turning around with a glare, visibly displeased. But the tension dissolved almost as quickly as it had escalated. Tewatia clarified that his words were self-directed. 'Tujhe nahi keh raha tha, khud ko bol raha tha (I wasn't saying it to you, I was saying it to myself),' he said, prompting a smile from Bumrah, who raised a hand in acknowledgement and walked back to his mark. With 45 needed off the last three overs, GT banked on Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan. Bumrah returned for the 18th and conceded just nine runs despite the six from Tewatia, leaving GT with a daunting 36 to get off the final 12 balls. Boult removed Rutherford early in the 19th, but Shahrukh smashed a six off the final ball, dragging GT within 24 of the target for the last over. But the ask proved too steep as MI sealed the game, dashing GT's hopes of a second IPL crown. MI will now face Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on June 1 for a place in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

"Don't Say This...": Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Tewatia In War Of Words Amidst Tense IPL 2025 Eliminator

Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs in a tight Eliminator match in IPL 2025. The chase went down to the wire, with GT staying alive right up to the final over. However, amidst a tense match, there appeared to be a small squabble between MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah and GT batter Rahul Tewatia. The incident occurred during the 18th over, when Tewatia appeared to say something after missing out on a delivery. Tewatia's words caught the attention of Bumrah, and the duo had a small run-in. Tewatia had smashed Bumrah for a six earlier in the over, but the pacer made a superb comeback right after, forcing a dot ball and a single. Tewatia's words caused Bumrah to look back and give the batter a glare. "Don't say this to me," Bumrah told Tewatia, upon hearing the batters' words. However, Tewatia clarified that he had said it to himself, and had not aimed his words at Bumrah. "I wasn't saying it to you, I was saying it to myself," Tewatia responded to Bumrah. Following Tewatia's response, Bumrah appeared to smile and show a hand to the batter, bringing an end to the matter. A brilliant half-century by Sai Sudharsan and his partnership with Washington Sundar went in vain as fine death bowling effort from Mumbai Indians (MI) helped the Blue and Gold franchise eliminate the 2022 champions from the competition with a 20-run win at Mullanpur on Friday. With this win, MI will now play Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Ahmedabad on June 1 for a spot in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on June 3. During the run-chase, GT was off to the worst imaginable start as skipper Shubman Gill was trapped leg-before-wicket by Trent Boult for just one. GT was 3/1 in 0.4 overs. However, later, Sai and Kusal Mendis started to stitch a partnership, taking down Boult with three sixes in the third over and adding some pressure on MI. In the final three overs, GT was left needing 45 runs. Bumrah bowled the next over, and Tewatia tried making a game out of it, dancing sideways and smashing him for a six. GT was left with 36 in the final two overs, with nine runs coming from the over. Boult started the next over with the wicket of Rutherford for 24 in 15 balls, with four boundaries. GT was 193/5 in 18.1 overs. Boult continued delivering fine yorkers, but Shahrukh Khan hit a six on the final ball, leaving GT with 24 to get in the final over.

The usually composed MI spearhead was caught on stump mic, saying, 'Mereko mat bol (Don't say it to me),' making it clear he took the remark personally. Tewatia, caught off guard, quickly clarified: 'Main tereko nahi bol raha hoon, main khud ko bol raha (I wasn't talking to you, I was saying it to myself).' Mahela Jayawardene on Rohit Sharma: 'You cannot replace the experience' Thankfully, the moment didn't spiral further. "Simply No Excuse...": Sunil Gavaskar Blasts Mumbai Indians Star For Huge Blunder vs Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans pulled off a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians in their rain-hit IPL 2025 match on Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, Mumbai Indians were restricted to a below-par 155/8, despite a quick 53-run knock from Will Jacks. Later during GT's chase, the match was halted several due to rain. Finally, the visitors were asked to score 15 runs in the 19th over, in order to win the match. MI skipper Hardik Pandya handed over the ball to pacer Deepak Chahar but he also could not stop GT from going across the line. Bowling the final over, Chahar was up against Gerald Coetzee and Rahul Tewatia. The pacer was hit for a boundary on the very first ball by Tewatia, followed by a single. After coming on strike, Coetzee sent the ball straight into the stands for a huge six. However, Chahar ended up leaking a no-ball and a single on the next delivery, giving a free-hit to GT. On the free-hit, Tewatia took a single and made the scores level but Chahar dismissed Coetzee on the next ball. However, the wicket also could not help MI as Arshad Khan came on strike and finished the game with a single. Talking about the last over, former India batter and commentator Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at Chahar for giving out a no-ball. "No excuse for a no ball. For a professional cricketer, simply no excuse. Whether you are bowling in the death or anywhere else," Gavaskar said on Star Sports. With this win, GT climbed to the top of the points table with a total of 8 wins after 11 matches. "There was a little bit of chaos when we came into bat after the rain but always good to have a W (win) on your side. The game plans were different in the powerplay, it was raining and the atmosphere was such that it felt like a Test match. We wanted to take the game on after the powerplay but the rain kept coming," said GT skipper Shubman Gill after the match. "The wicket was a little bit slow, with the rain coming in, the shots were not easy to hit so we thought, when it's in our zone, we would go for it. It was frustrating, we were ahead at one stage but we lost 4/20. But, the universe gave us a chance before two minutes and we took it," he added. Listen to the latest songs, only on

MI vs GT: Dramatic last over that sealed the win for Gujarat in rain-hit thriller at Wankhede

Gujarat Titans pulled off a stunning last-over win against Mumbai Indians in a rain-hit IPL 2025 thriller at Wankhede. Chasing 147 in 19 overs, GT won by 3 wickets with zero balls to spare as Rahul Tewatia, Gerald Coetzee, and Arshad Khan held their nerve in the final over. read more In one of the most dramatic finishes of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans snatched a thrilling 3-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians via DLS method at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday night. Chasing a revised target of 147 in 19 overs following a rain delay, GT needed 15 runs from the final over, and they did it with zero balls to spare, in what will be remembered as one of the most entertaining matches of the season. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD MI's collapse in final moments Deepak Chahar was given the responsibility of bowling the high-pressure final over of the rain-affected thriller for MI, while Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee were at the crease for GT. The first ball of the over saw Tewatia plant his front foot and loft a full delivery over mid-off for four, immediately shifting pressure back on Chahar. Tewatia then took a single and brought Coetzee on strike. The next delivery, bowled to Coetzee, was right in the slot, a perfect hitting length, and the South African did not miss. He launched it into the stands over long-off for a six. With 5 runs now required off 4 balls, the momentum had swung massively. Chahar, feeling the heat, bowled a yorker on leg stump and Coetzee squeezed it out for a single. However, the siren soon blared as Chahar had overstepped. It was a no-ball, gifting GT an extra run and a free hit. That no-ball completely changed the scenario again, with GT now needing just 3 from 3 balls. Tewatia took a single off the free hit to bring down the equation to 2 off 2. But there was one final twist. Coetzee tried to finish the game with another big shot but mistimed and was caught at square leg. It gave MI a glimmer of hope with 1 ball remaining and 1 run required. GT seal win in last-over thriller In came Arshad Khan, facing the pressure of the final delivery with the crowd roaring. He drilled the ball back towards mid-off and set off for a desperate single. MI skipper Hardik Pandya collected and had a clear sight of the stumps but missed the direct hit. Arshad, diving full stretch, made his ground, and the Titans erupted in celebration. Earlier in the chase, Shubman Gill played a captain's knock, scoring 43 off 46 balls, while Jos Buttler contributed 30. After Buttler's dismissal, Sherfane Rutherford came in and started swinging, keeping GT ahead of the DLS par score for most of the innings. But once the first spell of rain came and the momentum broke, Mumbai stormed back into the contest. Jasprit Bumrah (2/19) and Trent Boult (2/22) were outstanding, dismantling the middle order and giving MI real hope. The turning point came after the second rain delay, where Mumbai's bowling let them down. A missed run-out by Hardik Pandya on the final ball also played a part. For Gujarat, it was a win that took them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
