Taunton Eats: Pay it forward at Coffee Milano; Taste of Greater Taunton coming soon

We've compiled a list of meal deals, special events, and mouth-watering offerings at local eateries and markets to consider when planning your next night on the town, or a quick stop for a tasty treat. This week, Coffee Milano has rolled out a new way to spread positivity to the community, and pay it forward, with "Coffee & Kindness." Plus, we've got a sneak peek at the Taste of Greater Taunton, which is coming up soon, and will celebrate the diverse local food scene. We've also got flatbread, brunch, and a look at some other weekly specials. Let's dig in: Coffee Milano, which has gone viral in recent months for giving free coffee to dancing customers, has introduced a new way to spread positivity in the community. The cafe at 58 Center St., Middleboro, now has 'Coffee & Kindness,' a way for customers who are short on money to still enjoy something to eat or drink. Regardless of the reason — it's a judgement-free zone — if you need to, you can grab a Post-It, and enjoy some coffee, and some kindness. Customers can also pay it forward, and — if you've got a little extra cash — buy a meal or a drink for someone in need. Write it on a Post-It, and put it up on the board. Coffee Milano made the announcement in a Feb. 20 Facebook post, writing 'Because good food, warm coffee, and kindness should always be shared.' Taunton Eats: New Tom & Jimmy's location; Grilla Greek Kouzina reopens; Tex Barry's T-shirt Indulge in the Taunton area's culinary diversity with the Taste of Greater Taunton. Presented by the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, this experience 'brings together local restaurants, food artisans, and beverage makers to showcase their signature dishes and creations,' a press release from the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce said. 'Whether you're a foodie looking to explore new tastes or a family seeking a fun evening, the Taste of Greater Taunton offers something for everyone. This event will be held at the Taunton Hotel & Conference Center, 700 Myles Standish Blvd., Taunton, on Tuesday, March 18, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Early-bird/online tickets are $30 for adults, and $15 for children ages 5 to 12. Tickets at the door will be $45 for adults, and $20 for children ages 5 to 12. For more information, visit MBTA chief: South Coast Rail will be free on weekends as 'thank you.' How to try the train Riverhouse, 260 W. Water St., Taunton, has announced the flatbread of the week: Mexican street corn flatbread. Grove Street Tavern, 53 Grove St., Taunton, has announced the specials for the week. This week, they've got French onion and beef barley soups, char-grilled chicken caprese, pot roast with gravy, a tuna melt, a turkey BLT wrap, and a roast beef French dip sandwich. Plus, they have ground chouriço and chips pizza, or try the French onion soup burger, which is topped with caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and crispy onion rings, and served with french fries and a side of onion soup. For dessert, they've got grapenut pudding. Home Plate Bay Street Grill, 1094 Bay St., Taunton, will be hosting Sunday brunch this Sunday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They'll have brunch favorites on the menu, plus carving stations and mimosas.
