Sakhi Welfare Foundation hosts ONOE programme to promote electoral reforms, national unity

Najibabad: A programme centred on the theme "One Nation, One Election" was recently organised by Sakhi Welfare Foundation at the North India Group of Colleges, Bundki Road, Najibabad on Thursday. The event aimed to foster dialogue on electoral reforms and promote national unity through civic participation . The programme was held under the leadership of Dr Rakhi Agrawal, a social activist known for her contributions to women and youth empowerment, environmental awareness, and water conservation. The day-long event featured a variety of competitions and cultural activities, including a debate, poster-making contest, and a fashion show themed "Textiles of India", designed to celebrate the nation's rich cultural heritage. Students had the opportunity to explore and express their views on the idea of simultaneous elections in India while celebrating the country's cultural heritage. Participants from across the Bijnor district enthusiastically took part, representing institutions such as Rama Jain College, Sahu Jain College, MDKV College, and Rama Institute. Sub-divisional magistrate Vijay Shankar presented awards to the winners in each category. In the debate segment, Kanak won the first position, followed by Sarthak and Prachi. Preeti Chauhan secured the first position in the fashion show, followed by Vishakha Mehra and Surbhi. In the poster-making competition, Sanskriti Verma won the first prize, while Shivani Chaudhary and Pratham were second and third, respectively. Agrawal emphasised the importance of electoral reforms and commended the students and college faculty for their enthusiastic involvement. The event concluded on a high note with over 500 students and dignitaries in attendance, marking it as a successful initiative toward fostering informed and active citizenship.
