Waltham man found guilty of 2020 fatal stabbing on Halloween
A Waltham man has been found guilty of stabbing and killing his former housemate, Kevin Fitzgerald, on Halloween of 2020, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Jonathan Galindo, 38, was found guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated burglary following a three-week trial that began May 8, the DA's office said in a Friday news release. At 9:14 p.m. Oct. 31, 2020, Fitzgerald, 61, called 911 and told police he had been stabbed in his Waltham home and was dying, officials said. Police found him bleeding but conscious at the threshold of the home, and he told them he had been stabbed by a man wearing a ninja mask. Fitzgerald was brought to the hospital, where he died just after 10 p.m. He was stabbed three times in the chest, shoulder and thigh. An autopsy revealed that the chest wound, which punctured his lung, was fatal. At the home on Alder Street, police found blood, a knife, a fingerprint on the back storm door and a set of footprints in the snow leading to that door, according to the district attorney's office. Four days after Fitzgerald's death, police matched the fingerprint on the storm door to Galindo, who was Fitzgerald's former housemate and had moved out of the apartment that spring. DNA on the handle of the knife also matched Galindo, officials said. On Nov. 7, police received an arrest warrant for Galindo. They also found a black mask in his closet. Location data from Galindo's phone showed him at the Alder Street apartment on the night of Fitzgerald's death, officials said. The phone's internet search history also showed repeated searches for 'Any recent stabbings in Waltham last night?' the following day. A sentencing hearing for Galindo has been scheduled for 2 p.m. on July 15. Mass. beekeeper killed in crash while working in Ohio
A Southwick man has died after a crash in Ohio, where his beekeeping company was working this week. William Crawford III, 35, the founder of New England Apiaries, was working alongside a road in Oregon, Ohio, around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when the forklift he was using to help other workers load a company vehicle was struck by a 20-year-old driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, local TV news station WTOL reported. He was taken to the hospital and later died. The driver of the truck was wearing a seatbelt and uninjured, according to WTOL, and the crash remains under investigation. Crawford, who was known locally as the creator of Billy C's Raw Honey, told MassLive in 2017 that he had first gotten interested in beekeeping in 2005 at 15 years old, when he took a course offered by a regional beekeeping organization. In addition to the honey, which is sold at Big Y supermarkets and other retailers in the area, New England Apiaries rents out its bee colonies to pollinate crops around the country. Viewing hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, both at Full Gospel Church in Westfield. Fatal crash shuts Route 3 in Tyngsborough, drivers asked to avoid the area
Part of Route 3 was shut down in Tyngsborough temporarily Friday afternoon as police investigated a fatal crash on the highway. According to Massachusetts State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 89. One person was killed in the crash, according to MSP, and three others received serious injuries. Tyngsborough Police Department said in a statement shortly after 3 p.m. that they were 'actively responding to and investigating a crash on Route 3' alongside Massachusetts State Police and the entire area was shut down. The department said in a second statement just after 3:30 p.m. that the road had reopened, but the northbound lanes just prior to exit 88 remained closed. Drivers were asked to avoid Route 3 as the investigation continues. No other information was immediately available. None other than Bono shares the song, starting and ending it and singing about 'the days that tell you what life is for,' while the production emulates U2's grand marches. Elsewhere on his new album, 'Tha Carter VI,' Lil Wayne offers his usual punchlines and free associations; here, he's unabashedly earnest. Water From Your Eyes, 'Life Signs' The Brooklyn duo Water From Your Eyes revels in musical jump cuts and not-quite-sequiturs. Sudan Archives, 'Dead' Sudan Archives — the songwriter, violinist and producer Brittney Parks — powers through an identity crisis with the shape-shifting, maximalist, ultimately unstoppable track 'Dead.' She asks 'Where my old self at?' and 'Where my new self at?' and teases 'Did you miss me?' and 'Do you miss me?'
