The chic Cyprus hotel for every kind of holidaymaker
The words 'chic' and 'child-friendly' don't often sit together, but Anassa beautifully manages to be both. Located on the Akamas peninsula in northwest Cyprus, this member of the Leading Hotels of the World is a haven for families of all ages, but equally pleasing for couples and friends. Whitewashed Cypriot-style low-rise buildings are strung along the coast and gardens of the large yet elegant resort, whose look is inspired by a Byzantine village – think terracotta roof tiles, blue shutters and flowering bougainvillea draping from balconies. Inside, rooms feel fresh yet luxurious, with light marble floors, white walls and a palette of blues on cushions and sofas. Most come with uninterrupted sea views, others with pools. And the bathrooms? Think mini spas complete with Acqua Di Parma amenities. As well as its village-like charms, there's a real showstopper of a beach – a long swathe of secluded sand lapped by the Mediterranean Sea. It's the perfect depth for swimming, or settling into a long relaxing day of reading on a plush lounger, while kids will love paddling. But there's so much more for children here than the beach, as perfect as it is. The Mythos Kids Club takes babies from four months old (which is a rarity) while activities for children up to 12 include baking, pottery lessons, treasure hunts and archaeology sessions. Making things even easier for families is the Baby Go Lightly programme, meaning items like potties, baby walkers, swimming aids and even buggies can be ready and waiting for you in your room when you arrive. It may be a hotel for families over the summer, but it's a hotel for foodies through the season, too. This is the only hotel in Cyprus to make its own cheese, breads, pastries and jams – and that attention to detail extends to every meal, whether you're dining on French Mediterranean cuisine while listening to a harpist perform, or tucking into meze at the shaded al fresco taverna. There are four restaurants to choose from – some of which are adult-only – and a sommelier is on hand to help you choose your new favourite Cypriot wine. As for other things to do – how about a pottery class with Cypriot potter Avgoustinos, who has been working with clay for more than three decades? You may prefer to visit the watersports centre on the sand, venturing out on a paddleboard. Or you could try a sound bath or Shaman experience, an ancient spiritual practice that uses traditional methods to promote wellbeing. Then there's the multi award-winning Thalassa Spa, with 18 treatment rooms, restorative jet sprays and salt water baths drawn from the Mediterranean. The indoor pool, with its columns and marbles, is a luxurious place to relax, but really you're here for the staggering selection of treatments, including the Augustinus Bader facial (a brand that has partnered with Victoria Beckham), which uses Bader's signature products, from its cleansing gel to its famous face oil. If that's not enough for you, then there are algae body wraps, seaweed polishes and massages to relax and de-stress too.

Three of the best hotels in Cyprus for a secluded getaway
With hidden coves, bucolic nature spots and legend-steeped lagoons, this island is primed for secluded getaways. Among its many hotels, are properties that feel far from the beaten track, set in tranquil gardens and fronting serene, private beaches. Others, perched upon picturesque cliffs, transport you far away from the bustle, with excellent spas and sea views. The relaxation begins the moment you book your holiday package with British Airways Holidays because your entire trip is Atol-protected, with flights, accommodation, a generous baggage allowance and 24-hour holiday helpline included. For added convenience, you can secure your holiday with a low deposit and pay in instalments, to help spread the cost. Alternatively, settle the balance closer to departure should you wish to pay later.* The question is, which of these secluded retreats will you choose? Anassa The location of the Anassa hotel, overlooking the Akamas Peninsula's beautiful Asprokremmos Beach, nails the brief for a relaxing getaway. This calming corner of northwest Cyprus is easily reached from Paphos, yet instantly urges you to switch off, thanks to its verdant surroundings, tranquil waters – where seals and turtles can be spotted – and traditional, sleepy fishing villages which pepper the coast. In keeping with the island's roots, this five-star property, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, has been inspired by a Byzantine village. Expect to find inviting spots beside its traditional chapel and village square in which to relax. Its series of low-rise whitewashed terraces, with their local marble and stone, and locally crafted furniture, also add to the authentic feel. Inside its various rooms and suites – some of which feature whirlpools and private swimming pools – you can enjoy a sanctuary of homely Mediterranean style interiors with uplifting cobalt blue details. Its Thalassa Spa – with its sky-lit roman style indoor pool and rejuvenating body rituals – instantly transports you to a place of calm. Its four restaurants, meanwhile, provide a welcome dose of escapism with candlelit enclaves, olive tree-shaded terraces and masterful flavours that harness the island's best produce. Columbia Beach Resort The peaceful village of Pissouri, on the southern Cyprus coast, wins everyone over with its towering white cliffs, crystal-clear waters and Blue Flag namesake beach. And the five-star Columbia Beach Resort, with its distinct, Cypriot-style architecture, only adds to the area's allure. Away from the crowds of the island's larger towns, you'll find all the peace and quiet your heart desires here. Its exclusive Eagle's Nest Suites come with their own private plunge pools and if you're travelling with family, its one- and two-bedroom family suites provide open-plan living, gorgeous views and the kind of luxury interiors that allow you to drop your bags (and your shoulders) and really feel at home. Across the resort, palm trees soar, and there are two pools, including a lagoon-like infinity pool, that set the scene for languorous days in the sun – and a wealth of facilities spanning watersports and bike tours amid scenic vineyards – that will whisk you away from the humdrum of the everyday. There's a Padi-approved dive centre, multi award-winning Hebe Spa and four nearby golf courses, set within fabulous hillside locations, all make this a worthy spot for rediscovering hobbies and reconnecting with family and friends. The best part? You can do it while discovering one of the island's most soothing pockets of coastline. Grecian Park Hotel This superb property is just half a mile away from Protaras and five miles away from Ayia Napa in southeastern Cyprus. Yet the Grecian Park Hotel's location, upon a smooth sweep of caramel sands and close to the pine-dotted Cape Greco National Park, place it worlds apart from any bustling towns. Its landscaped gardens unearth secret pathways and the national park's network of trails lead to mesmerising viewpoints, limestone caves and the crystalline Blue Lagoon. Inside the hotel, haven-like rooms and suites come in cool, calming colour palettes and everything is set in place to help you unwind, with a vast curving outdoor pool equipped with comfy loungers and call buttons that allow you to order refreshments without leaving your sun bed. This is one of the best spa hotels in Cyprus so retreating to its Spa & Wellness Centre for a holistic treatment is a must. When it's time to dine, the hotel's exceptional restaurants offer a diverse culinary experience to suit every taste. From the sophisticated flavours of Umi Japanese & Sushi Bar Restaurant to the authentic Italian dishes at Ravioli's Italian Restaurant, guests can indulge in expertly crafted cuisine. For a more relaxed atmosphere, the Cliff Bar, with its breathtaking panoramic views, serves platters and cocktails. Meanwhile, Antaeus Restaurant provides an elegant dining experience with a menu featuring international and Mediterranean delights. Whether you're in the mood for a casual bite or a fine-dining experience, Grecian Park Hotel's restaurants promise a memorable gastronomic journey.
