Meet the Maker: Drinking from the "Nourishing Well"
Meet the nine Black women sharing their life experiences with Indy through poetry, film, photography and visual art.
Why it matters: " Nourishing Well: Black Women and the Poetics of Sacred Space" is a multimedia art exhibition at Gallery 924 that is ending its run next week.
The inspo: Conceptualized by local writer and poet Mariah Ivey, the exhibition explores art and language as pathways to healing, care and justice.
What she's saying:"I am celebrating the beauty and power of language — of art as a source of care and solution," Ivey wrote on her Instagram page. "I am celebrating good love and friendship."
"I am celebrating the artists. The writers. I am celebrating the expansiveness of Black women and all the ways in which we show up in the world."
Zoom in: In addition to Ivey, who runs the monthly That Peace Open Mic at 10 East Arts Hub, here are the women sharing their work in "Nourishing Well":
Aliza Brown: Photographer, creative director and visual artist.
D'yshe Mansfield: Photographer, singer-songwriter, actress and director.

Dana Powell Smith: Muralist and painter.
JayAmi Sellers: Expressionist who works with acrylic paint.
Ayanna Tibbs: Graphic designer and digital artist.
