Texas A&M star RB considered a Heisman Trophy 'Sleeper' ahead of the 2025 season
We've reached the point of the 2025 college football offseason where members of the national and SEC media begin to pick out their Heisman Trophy contenders at every position, which is refreshing given the recent streak of quarterbacks running away with the prestigious award, which has been the case seven out of the last nine years.
For Texas A&M, I can safely say that Heisman voters are not considering any player on the Aggies' 2025 roster as a legitimate Heisman contender, but that could be said for several teams who do not have established quarterbacks or wide receivers who are early betting favorites for the award, such as LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier, and Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith.
However, Michael Bratton, co-host of That SEC Podcast, released his "Heisman Trophy Sleepers" for all 16 SEC teams, as Texas A&M senior running back Le'Veon Moss was selected as the Aggies' potential Heisman winner.
While this is a long shot, Moss is undoubtedly talented enough to re-ignite his elite play that led to nearly 800 rushing yards through seven games before his season-ending injury against South Carolina last season.
The keyword here is "Sleeper," given the names on the list, which are mainly running backs and wide receivers, given the talent at quarterback in the SEC. While Texas QB Arch Manning is the early Heisman front-runner, Alabama wide receiver could end up having a season similar to DeVonta Smith, who won the Heisman after reeling in 1,800-plus yards and 23 touchdowns during the 2020 season.
With Rueben Owens, Amari Daniels, and EJ Smith returning to Texas A&M's backfield, Moss will continue to be the lead running back and could be on track for his best statistical season yet, running in front of A&M's veteran offensive line featuring all five starters from last season.
