Home and Away star Shane Withington has shared a glimpse inside his trip to Ireland as he enjoyed a pint of Guinness in Kilkenny. The 66-year-old actor has been a steadfast member of the cast of the Australian soap opera since 2009, playing the role of the grouchy but lovable John Palmer. Along with co-star Lynne Granger (who plays Irene Roberts), Shane headed to Ireland for a series of meet and greet events. Pic: Shane Withington/ Instagram The iconic stars of the show met fans at two sold out events last week at Dublin's Grand Canal Hotel before they headed down to Munster for events at The Address Hotel, Cork and the Absolute Hotel in Limerick. The actors took to social media to share a glimpse inside their trip to Ireland with Lynne tuning in to Virgin Media One during her stay. Following the meet and greets, Shane took to opportunity to stay on in Ireland, and headed to Kilkenny where he enjoyed lunch with his friend Salvador and made a visit to the stunning Kilkenny Castle. Sharing a picture from the lunch with his friend, Shane wrote: 'With my mate Salvador lunch in Kilkenny and a wonderful day…' Providing insight into what she was getting up to, Lynne commented: 'Lovely to see you two tearing up the town! I'm loving spending time with my gorgeous friends in York but wish I could've spent some more time in beautiful Ireland. 'Behave yourselves fellas.' Another added: 'Imagine walking into the pub and seeing JP [John Palmer] there. Immense.' Others commented their delight at meeting Shane and Lynne during their meet and greet tour, with one person praising: 'You are both so kind taking the time to meet and greet us all. Enjoy the rest of your trip in Ireland. 'Hope you both come back soon.'
