UNC official avoids addressing whether Bill Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, creates 'distractions'
North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick appears to remain cemented in athletic director Lawrence R. "Bubba" Cunningham's good graces. Cunningham's department recently denied reports saying Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, was effectively banned from UNC's athletics department and team buildings. On Tuesday, Cunningham shared some details about the working relationship he's built with the former NFL coach. "Bill's been great to work with," Cunningham told ESPN. "He talked about practicing like a pro, and he runs a professional organization that is teaching students how to be professional in all aspects of their life. He is a very determined, professional individual, and that's the way he carries himself and the way he conducts the program." While Cunningham was willing to go into detail about Belichick's football-related relationships, he was less forthcoming when questions were raised about Belichick's personal life. When Cunningham was asked a question suggesting Hudson's presence created "distractions," he sidestepped, saying, "Bill is an incredibly focused person." Cunningham made the comments the same day as Belichick's appearance on ESPN. During the interview, the six-time Super Bowl winner said his romance with Hudson is "off to the side." "It's a personal relationship, and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football," Belichick said. The discussion also marked the 73-year-old's first televised interview since his infamous sitdown with "CBS News Sunday Morning." The interview was part of a promotional tour for Belichick's new book, "The Art of Winning — Lessons from My Life in Football." At times during the conversation, Hudson was accused of attempting to assert her control. Hudson also faced criticism over her reported involvement in North Carolina losing out on the opportunity to be featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks." According to The Athletic, Hudson played an "instrumental role" in HBO pulling the plug on the potential production of the UNC-focused docuseries. The report also noted that Hudson had asked to be "heavily involved with the project." Belichick has been publicly linked to the 24-year-old Hudson since 2023. In a statement released after the CBS interview, Belichick said he met Hudson on a flight in 2021. Bill Belichick's Daughter-in-Law Slams His Girlfriend Jordon Hudson
Originally appeared on E! Online Jordon Hudson is facing criticism from Bill Belichick's inner circle. After Nikki Glaser defended the 24-year-old from backlash after she interrupted former General Manager of the New England Patriots' CBS Sunday Morning interview to shut down questions about their romance, Bill's daughter-in-law Jen Belichick spoke out condemning his girlfriend's actions. Under a clip of Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman discussing the matter on their Dudes on Dudes with Gronk and Jules podcast, Nikki shared her support for Jordon, arguing that "she was jumping into that conversation during the interview just like any PR person would jump in when there's an unnecessary question." But Jen didn't agree with that explanation, responding to the comedian's comment shortly after, "Publicists act in a professional manner and don't 'storm' off set delaying an interview." Controversy surrounding the interview began on April 28, when Jordon cut in to Bill's interview to say "not talking about this" when host Tony Dokoupil asked questions about their relationship. And while she was not shown on camera storming off set, the clip did pan to her when she made the comment, to which Tony responded, "No?" and Hudson replied the same. More from E! CBS dispute with Bill Belichick latest controversy to hit embattled network
Bill Belichick's back-and-forth with CBS News over his girlfriend Jordon Hudson shutting down a question about their relationship became the latest dispute for the network, as CBS and Paramount are also battling a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump. The former New England Patriots coach, now head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels football team, spoke to "CBS News Sunday Morning" about his new book, and was asked by CBS host Tony Dokoupil about how he and Hudson met. Hudson, who was sitting off to the side as Belichick was questioned, shut down the question about their relationship and said, "not talking about this." After the moment was widely criticized, Belichick released a statement, accusing the network of creating a "false narrative" with "selectively edited clips." CBS News fired back at Belichick on Wednesday. The coach said in the statement that he was surprised when non-book-related topics were introduced and said Hudson jumped in to reiterate that the discussion was supposed to be about the book. "She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track. Dokoupil faced internal backlash at CBS after a contentious interview he did with anti-Israel author Ta-Nehisi Coates in October 2024. The CBS anchor pressed the author on his book, which he said read like something you would find in "the backpack of an extremist," as well as whether he felt Israel had a right to exist. CBS staffers were upset by the grilling from Dokoupil and network leadership, according to the Free Press, concluded that the interview did not meet the company's "editorial standards." Paramount CEO Shari Redstone later acknowledged CBS made a "mistake" in its response. "As hard as it was, frankly, for me to go against the company, because I love this company, and I believe in it, and I think we have a great, great executive team, I think they made a mistake here," Redstone said during a panel discussion in October 2024. Cbs Boss Backs News Network Leadership After Parent Company Chair Disapproved Its Handling Of Tony Dokoupil CBS' parent company, Paramount Global, was sued by Trump ahead of the 2024 election over a "60 Minutes" interview they did with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump is seeking $20 billion in a lawsuit against CBS, alleging election interference over its handling of the interview. The president accused CBS of aiding his 2024 Democratic opponent through deceptive editing just weeks before the presidential election. Paramount Global agreed to mediation, signaling the courtroom showdown would result in a settlement. The raw transcript of the interview, which the network released in February 2025, showed CBS News had aired only the first half of her response to "60 Minutes" correspondent Bill Whitaker's question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not "listening" to the Biden administration in a preview clip that aired on "Face the Nation," but aired only the second half of her response during a primetime special on the network. "As the full transcript shows, we edited the interview to ensure that as much of the vice president's answers to 60 Minutes' many questions were included in our original broadcast while fairly representing those answers. 60 Minutes' hard-hitting questions of the vice president speak for themselves," CBS News said when they released the transcript.
