New male jaguar joining Cameron Park Zoo
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – The Cameron Park Zoo has a new animal joining its family!
The Zoo announced Friday morning that male jaguar Banks is a potential love match for its resident female jaguar Safira. Banks was born on April 7, 2023, at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
Banks and Safira are close in age, and once Banks completes his quarantine period, Cameron Park Zoo staff will make the introductions.
The Zoo says Banks and Safira's pairing is part of the The Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan in order to help ensure the survival of threatened and endangered species. Their upcoming introduction is an exciting step forward, and the Zoo eagerly anticipates the day we can all watch them interact, play, and maybe even start a family of their own!
