BTS' Jin lands 3rd solo entry on Billboard Hot 100

Jin of BTS entered Billboard's Hot 100 at No. 90 with his single 'Don't Say You Love Me.' It is his third solo entry on the main singles chart, following 'The Astronaut' from 2022 and 'Running Wild' from last year. The former, his first solo single, ranked No. 51 while the latter, the focus track from Jin's first EP 'Happy,' entered at No. 53. 'Don't Say You Love Me' fronted his second EP, 'Echo,' which claimed the No. 3 spot on Billboard 200, one spot higher than his previous album. The recent release also claimed the No. 1 spot on Spotify's Top Songs Global chart last week, making him the fourth solo K-pop artist to do so. Currently, Jin is preparing for his first solo fan concert tour set to begin on June 28 in Korea.

Jin's Rock-Star Dreams Are Big and Bold on ‘Echo'

Jin has always been his own kind of romantic within the BTS universe, with his own style. This is the guy you go to for epic swoon-worthy love songs about space travel through the cosmos of the heart, in classics like 'Epiphany' and 'Moon.' (Especially 'Moon.') He summed up his sound with his official solo debut single 'The Astronaut,' his 2022 duet with Coldplay, where he kept hitting high notes from outer space. (But still — especially 'Moon.' What a song, right?) Jin pushes his signature style even further with Echo, his new 7-song EP, with emotional ballads and glossy rock moves that give him a chance to shine bright on his own, all open-hearted charm. Jin is heavily into ripped jeans, leather jackets, long hair, and black nail polish these days, playing up his rock & roll flash, even sporting a Tom Petty t-shirt. It's a change from his previous clean-cut look, but he's obviously embracing his newfound freedom, after two years of mandatory military service. No star has made such a flamboyant celebration out of taking off the solider's uniform since Elvis Presley escaped the Army and returned with the rowdy sex stomp of Elvis Is Back!, the album where Elvis invented the Stones and the Doors. 'The Astronaut' was his temporary farewell to the pop scene, as he and his BTS bandmates went on their hiatus to fulfill their military duties. But as soon as he got out of the service last year, he jumped back into music with his solo debut Happy. He's also stepped out as a budding TV star, on the weirder-than-weird hit Kian's Bizarre B&B, where he manages a bed-and-breakfast on a remote South Korean island, helping a string of wacky guests learn some life lessons. It says a lot about Jin that he'd pick such an unusual project for his big return. (Among other things, he gets to live up to his reputation as as one of the music world's supreme chefs.) All the BTS men have stretched out in different musical directions on their solo projects since the hiatus—his fellow rocker Jimin went for a psychedelic Sgt. Pepper concept on Muse, with 'Smeraldo Garden Marching Band,' while Jungkook threw down with Jack Harlow on Golden and RM duetted with Erykah Badu on Indigo. For Jin, Echo is expansively romantic, full of Eighties-style synth-pop, led by the single 'Don't Say You Love Me,' the ballad of a fragile relationship coming to a messy end. 'Don't tell me that you're gonna miss me,' he sings. 'Just tell me that you wanna kill me.' He tries out some new tricks on Echo, most smashingly on 'Rope It,' his first country song. It begins with horses neighing over a Wild West motif from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, breaking into a boot-scootin' line dance with guitar twang and harmonica. Jin struts with pure cowboy swagger, and it's safe to say we're all here for his Yeehaw Era. It proves that 'Seoul Town Road' was just the beginning. 'Rope It' has to be the best BTS-related country moment since J-Hope learned to say 'Howdy, y'all!' for his Texas gig in March. Another highlight is 'Loser,' a high-energy slice of glam-metal that sounds like Jin is gunning to join Def Leppard. He plays half of a bickering couple in a hilarious duet with Yena, formerly of the girl group Iz*One. (She also did the awesome 2023 single 'Hate Rodrigo,' the affectionately cheeky tribute to idolizing a certain so-American pop megastar, which would make a great mash-up with Olivia's 'Obsessed.') 'With the Clouds' has a Bon Jovi-style guitar break. All over Echo, Jin sounds refreshed to be throwing himself back into music, but with the confidence of a star who'd never been away. As his boy Tom Petty would say, may he stay the wild one forever. Best of Rolling Stone The 50 Greatest Eminem Songs All 274 of Taylor Swift's Songs, Ranked The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

BTS' Jin shares heartbreak anthem Don't Say You Love Me from album Echo

BTS' eldest member Jin has unveiled a soul-stirring new music video for the title track, 'Don't Say You Love Me', featuring acclaimed actor Shin Se-kyung. The track is part of his sophomore album 'Echo', which delves into themes of heartbreak, moving on, and lingering nostalgia. The album is now all-English ballad, 'Don't Say You Love Me' showcases Jin's vocal prowess like never before. The song captures the raw ache of love lost with a stripped-down arrangement and a chorus that allows his high notes to the track here: The music video adds another layer to the narrative, as it uses somber lighting and a melancholic visual tone and expressions that allow you to absorb the track's emotional depth. Shin Se-Kyung's features opposite Jin and add an emotional weight to the song.'Echo' is an important chapter in Jin's solo music career. He debuted as a soloist with his successful debut solo single, 'The Astronaut' right before he enrolled for military discharge, he released his first album 'Happy', which highlighted his soft rock and R&B sensibilities. With 'Don't Say You Love Me' leading the way, the album promises a more personal, introspective sound, a reflective moment for the artist before BTS' highly awaited reunion next

The combined performance by Coldplay and Jin of BTS ignites social media

KOREA: As reported by Allkpop, the partnership between BTS's Jin and Coldplay is igniting social media. Photo: Instagram/Coldplay Coldplay's been on this massive 'Music of the Spheres' tour since Apr 16. They kicked things off in Korea. Yesterday, they shared cool photos and videos from the tour on their Twitter and Instagram accounts. Coldplay shared two special photos, among the many photos of guest performers, of BTS's Jin, and two videos. One of them showed Chris Martin just vibing with the audience, getting everyone to sing along—you know how he does! The other video was sweet: It caught the moment when Chris and Jin were on stage, just jumping around and laughing together. You could see they were good friends, having a blast up there. It was a nice glimpse into their friendship. Special guest Jin popped up as a special guest with Coldplay on Apr 19, a nd then, he joined them again for their very last show in Korea on Apr 25. When Jin joined Coldplay on stage, he didn't just stand there! He performed 'My Universe,' which is a song BTS did together with Coldplay. He also sang 'The Astronaut,' which is his own solo song that he helped write, and he even created the music with Coldplay. Jin received a lot of accolades for captivating the public and fans with his strong vocals and breathtaking looks. Great collaboration Chris Martin was lovely about the whole collaboration with Jin. He kept mentioning that it was Jin's idea for them to work together! During the show, Chris was warm, thanking Jin for introducing Coldplay to BTS, for being such a kind person, and for singing with them that night. He added that he'll always love Jin. Both Jin and Coldplay share a close bond. Back in 2021, BTS was in New York for a trip. Jin complimented Chris Martin's guitar, and Chris then gifted Jin the guitar, which he had been using for more than 10 years. Prior to their Seoul concert, Coldplay hinted at Jin's upcoming arrival. After Coldplay wrapped up their last show in Hong Kong, they posted on Twitter on Apr 13, saying how amazing it was. Then, they hinted at their next stop, Seoul, and included a picture of Jin's character, Wootteo. It's sweet because, as a sign of their friendship, Coldplay has been bringing that Wootteo plushie along to every single concert they've done since Jin gave it to them back in 2022. Shout-out to Jin and Seoul After Jin showed up at that concert in Seoul on April 19, Coldplay was so touched that the very next day, they put up a post online. It was he and Chris Martin singing together. In their message, they were super appreciative, thanking Jin for joining them and even giving a shout-out to Seoul. They said they'd never forget those moments and added a purple heart at the end—so sweet! Then, Jin himself hopped on his Instagram a couple of days later, on Apr 26, and talked about how amazing Coldplay's friendship is and how incredible their performance together was. It went viral all over the world. It just goes to show how famous and influential both of them are.
