‘Brady Bunch' Icon Honored With Surprising ‘World's Coolest' Tribute From Grunge Band

Ann B. Davis famously portrayed beloved housekeeper Alice on The Brady Bunch during the show's run on ABC in the 1970s, as well as the 1980s Brady TV movies, The Brady Girls Get Married and A Very Brady Christmas, and the short-lived 1980s spinoff series, The Brady Brides and The Bradys. Though Davis died in 2014 at the age of 88, her legend lives on—and in some unusual places. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Alice in Chains' bassist Mike Inez, who has been in the band since 1993, shared an April 24 post on Instagram teasing that the group is back together and working, writing, 'Our tribe is making noise. #aliceinchains.' While that was good news for fans, what really got a reaction was the photo Inez shared of his bass and founding drummer Sean Kinney's kit, which featured a psychedelic rendering of the iconic Brady housekeeper, Alice, on the bass drum head. Fans, and even some fellow musicians, were quick to leave comments. 'Alice In Chains, Alice Cooper, Alice the Maid…that tour SHOULD happen!!! 😉❤️,' wrote guitarist Ryan Roxie. 'There she iiiiiisss 💙,' posted Karmann Soane, who goes by the handle sketchygoat on Instagram and is the artist responsible for the artwork. Her comment prompted a fan to remark, '@sketchygoat The world's coolest Alice by the world's coolest artist!' 'Sticking with the classics!' another fan posted, while another joked, 'Alice doesn't live here anymore,' dropping the title from a non-Brady 1970s movie. Along with Pearl Jam and Nirvana, Alice in Chains was one of the most popular bands to emerge from the Seattle area in the '90s, with such hits as 'Man in the Box' the chart-topping Jar of FliesEP in 1994 and self-titled album the following year. Although original lead singer Layne Staley died in 2002 from a heroin overdose, the band is still in action with singer/guitarist William DuVall, who has been fronting the band since 2006, and original songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell.

‘Brady Bunch' Star Susan Olsen Says She ‘Almost Died' While Filming Show's Pilot Episode

'The Brady Bunch' star Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady, the youngest child of the Brady brood, says an on-set accident that occurred while she was filming the family sitcom's first episode nearly proved fatal. Olsen, 63, made the revelation while chatting with her costars Mike Lookinland, Christopher Knight, and Barry Williams during an April 22 While discussing the pilot episode, 'The Honeymoon,' Olsen recalled being struck on the head by falling set equipment. 'I got injured,' she said, adding that she 'almost died.' Olsen, who was 7 years old at the time, said she was getting makeup applied to her legs when the accident occurred. 'The saddest news is that we didn't sue Paramount because I would have made more off of that than the show,' Olsen joked. 'I remember loving it because I looked like I was in a horror film.' Created by screenwriter Sherwood Schwartz, 'The Brady Bunch' was set in the Los Angeles suburbs and chronicled the lives of married couple Mike and Carol Brady and their blended family of six children. The pilot episode premiered on Sept. 26, 1969, leading to the show's five-season run. The ABC sitcom concluded in 1974, with its final episode, 'The Hair-Brained Scheme,' airing on March 8 of that year. The series led to a variety of spin-offs, including the 1976 variety show 'The Brady Bunch Hour' and the 1981 telefilm 'The Brady Girls Get Married.' The sitcom 'The Brady Brides,' which was also released in 1981, centered on the lives of the two oldest Brady girls, Marcia and Jan, after they got married. The holiday drama 'A Very Brady Christmas' premiered seven years later, and in 1990, the sequel 'The Bradys' made its debut on CBS, exploring the lives of the Brady children as adults. Other projects included the films 'The Brady Bunch Movie' (1995) and 'A Very Brady Sequel' (1996).
