Chef Maria Graziano dies in car accident in Iowa Friday
Milwaukee chef Maria Graziano died in a car accident on Friday, according to Iowa State Patrol records.
Graziano, 25, was Sous Chef at The Bridgewater Modern Grill for the past year, said director of marketing for Benson's Restaurant Group Alison Graettinger. Benson's Restaurant Group oversees The Bridgewater Modern Grill.
Graziano also worked for a time as head chef at Moxie, the American fare restaurant and bar, according to a previous Journal Sentinel report. Under Graziano, MOXIE added weekday lunch hours and a Sunday afternoon social in the spring of 2023.
The crash occurred just after 9 p.m. on Friday near Dubuque, Iowa. Graziano's vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 151 and Skyline/Monastery Road, causing a semi-truck to make contact with the driver's side of her car, Iowa State Patrol said. Graziano was pronounced dead at the scene.
