7 Summer Decorating Trends Designers Are Already Seeing Everywhere

From elevated coastal influences to sculptural furniture to playful accents, this summer's design trends have something for everyone. To find out what's trending this season, we scoured reports from Pinterest and Houzz and talked to interior designers about the colors, pieces, and styles they're seeing on the rise. Rather than a too put-together look, homemade-looking accents and a plethora of textures are popping up—and the laidback feeling of summer is the perfect time to bring more of this undone-ness into your space. 'Right now, it's all about pieces that bring personality and charm into the home,' says Ursula Carmona, a home style expert and Featured Finder for HomeGoods. Whether you're embarking on a full home redesign this season or shopping for a few statement pieces to complete a room's look, these seven trends are sure to inspire. is a home style expert. is an influencer and interior designer. Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum of The Brownstone Boys are home designers and renovation decor for summer? Groundbreaking, we know. Coastal motifs may be a seasonal staple, but this year's version is more elevated and refined, with neutral palettes and understated accents. 'Soft cabana stripes, sea glass accents, rattan, and breezy white fabrics set the tone,' says interior designer Jenny Reimold. 'Deeper sandy hues and nautical navy are resurfacing, but in a more layered, lived-in, effortless way.' A minimalist approach maximizes comfort while keeping the coastal look feeling timeless, rather than kitschy. 'Furniture is low, oversized, and lounge-worthy—creating that relaxed, coastal minimalism that feels like a vacation at home,' Reimold, a HomeGoods Featured Finder, adds. All four designers we spoke to are seeing sculptural furniture everywhere this season, and the 2025 Home Design Trend report from Houzz predicted the same. 'Sculptural, low-profile pieces are everywhere—curved sofas, oval dining tables, and chunky armchairs that invite you to sink in,' Bordelon says. 'Gone are the days of boring furniture and accents designed only for function,' says Carmona, noting she's seen plenty of pieces big and small (especially at HomeGoods) leaning into the sculptural trend including furniture with swooped arms and curved backs, as well as decor like trays and baskets with scalloped edges. There's a noticeable shift toward cozier, classic design—a trend that Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum of The Brownstone Boys are calling 'soft heritage.' 'This season, we're seeing a shift toward warm minimalism with historic undertones,' Slocum says. 'Think vintage silhouettes, relaxed upholstery, and just a touch of quiet luxury. It's a look that feels elevated, but is surprisingly attainable.' The same is true for accents and finishes. 'Brushed brass and champagne-toned silver are replacing high-shine metals with something warmer and more relaxed,' Reimold says. While cool and coastal practically screams classic summer, designers are also predicting a turn toward warmer, earthier aesthetics—a look that's inspired by warm, sunbaked destinations like African deserts, the Australian outback, and the American Southwest, Reimold says. She recommends bringing this trend into your home via rustic neutrals, clay tones, and natural textures like raffia, jute, and worn leathers. But for those looking to make a bigger statement, paint is always an option. 'Warm neutrals with a touch of pigment—soft olive, chalky peach, and weathered terracotta—are everywhere right now,' Bordelon says. Bouclé lovers, don't fret: 'Bouclé is still trending,' Carmona says, 'But we're seeing softer, more evolved versions in new colors and tones.' And it's not the only textile making waves this summer. Designers also highlight velvet, tweed, raw linen, and washed cotton as top picks. 'It's all about comfort you can feel,' Carmona says. 'Woven accents are especially in demand—think grass cloth furniture, basketweave lighting, and chunky knit throws that add dimension without visual clutter,' Reimold says. Neutrals and minimalism might always be popular, but summer is the perfect time to invite some joy and color into your space. 'There's a lighthearted vibe making its way into interiors—from checkerboard motifs to handblown glassware and punchy ceramics,' Slocum says. 'It's less about rules and more about joy, and we love mixing in those unexpected touches.' Whether it's a strawberry vase or shell-themed tchotchke, designers are seeing more and more personality. 'Whatever your obsession, chances are it exists in accessory form to help bring that playful energy into your home,' Carmona says. Pinterest has noted a sharp rise in searches for bold, expressive decor styles like 'eclectic maximalism' and 'vintage maximalism.' And searches for 'eclectic apartment' are up a whopping 630%, suggesting that renters and city dwellers are leading the charge in embracing bolder, brighter interiors. 'Summer is always the season where trending colors get just a little edgier and this season, berry tones are stealing the spotlight,' says Carmona, who's seen these pops of color everywhere from ceramic dishes to outdoor melamine serveware. Pinterest is seeing red too, with equally bold cherry hues spiking in popularity: Searches for 'cherry bedroom' and 'dark cherry red' are both on the rise. Rich jewel tones and hues like indigo and terracotta can also make a huge impact, adding depth and contrast to your space. Designers are seeing these rich hues used on everything from plush ottomans to wall art to tile. Read the original article on Better Homes & Gardens
