Code of Silence filming locations: Was the ITV show actually shot in Kent?

Last night ITV dropped the first episode of one of their most highly anticipated series of the year - Code of Silence. The six-part drama follows a Deaf police station cafeteria worker Alison (Rose Alying-Ellis) who is brought into the main office to lip read for the police, after all their usual lip readers are unavailable. Alison advises on a complicated and dangerous case about one of the biggest criminal gangs in Kent. And as she continues her lip reading work, she can't help but form an attachment to one of the main suspects. The show takes place all over Kent, but was the series actually filmed on location? Here's everything you need to know about the filming locations of Code of Silence on ITV. Despite largely being set in Canterbury, Kent, the majority of the series was actually filmed in London and the surrounding areas. But interestingly the police station, where a lot of the action in the series takes place, was actually filmed in a real old police station. Watford police station closed in October 2023, and filming for the show took place thereafter. However, that police station didn't have a canteen and so in order to film Alison's canteen scenes the crew would film at a local school in their canteen. Yes! In episode one we see Alison balancing her police work with a job in a café, that she is then fired from for getting one order wrong. The scenes for this were shot on location in a real restaurant called The Hub on the Verulam, which is in St Albans. The Hub On the Verulam, is not only a restaurant offering a lunch, brunch, dinner, bar, Sunday roast, afternoon tea and BBQ menu, but there's also a cinema screening everything from movies to football games. They also offer a cinema supper club where you can watch a movie and eat a meal inspired by the film at the same time. After getting fired from her café job Alison begins working in a pub, that just so happens to be where Liam and the rest of the gang hang out. The pub is called The Canterbury Tap, however the pub is a fictional pub. The exterior shots for it were filmed at The Old Kings Arms in Hemel Hempstead and the inside shots were filmed at The Garibaldi in St Albans. While we're not planning to rob any banks any time soon, we can still admire a location. In episode two, Liam goes to the high security vault which was actually filmed at London's Freemasons Hall. In episode two, Liam and Alison head into London to meet one of his 'colleagues' and they go to a nightclub to do this. The interior scenes for the club were filmed at one75 bar in West Hampstead, which does a great range of cocktails including four different types of negronis. However, the exterior shots for the club were filmed on the South Bank outside the Oxo tower. Yes! After their night out Liam and Alison head to a pie and mash shop, and this one was filmed on location at Tony's Pie & Mash, which has been open since 1995 and counts David Beckham as one of its visitors. In the third episode of the series the show visits an ice rink which is said to be Denstroude Ice Centre, however in reality these scenes were shot at Planet Ice in Milton Keyes. In episode four Liam and Alison have a romantic weekend away to a boujie hotel Hawthorne Estate Hotel (she's really good at not getting involved in this case). However, if you wanted to book a stay at the Hawthorne Estate Hotel you'd be disappointed as it doesn't exist. The exterior and interiors shots of the hotel were shot at Wrotham Park, which is sadly not open the public. Code of Silence continues tonight on ITV1 at 9pm and all episodes are available on ITVX
