CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Multiple crews responded to a boat on fire in the Connecticut River Tuesday morning, helping to bring the vessel safely to shore. Chicopee teen charged with murder following shooting investigation The Chicopee Police Department shared that at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, WESTCOMM Regional Dispatch received a report of a boat on fire in the Connecticut River. Officers arrived at the area and located the boat, which was no longer on fire. The owner of the vessel reported to officers that the boat had lost all power and that assistance was needed. The Chicopee Police Marine Unit was assisted by the Chicopee Fire Marine Unit and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department Marine Unit to safely tow the vessel to shore. All occupants of the boat were removed safely, and no injuries were reported. CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Residents living in the area of Chicopee Memorial State Park are being advised about emergency training taking place on Wednesday. Belchertown police recover rifles, search for suspect The Chicopee Police Department and Chicopee Fire Department will be conducting a joint training at the park, located at 567 Burnett Road, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As part of the training, there will be a large number of emergency vehicles in the area. Local residents and businesses should not be alarmed, and drivers traveling in the area are urged to use caution.
