Life advice: Malin Åkerman on playing horny in the juicy 'The Hunting Wives' adaptation
The treasure: Actor Malin Åkerman may have been born in Sweden, but she was raised in Ontario — complete with a very Canadian pro figure-skating career — so we're delighted to claim her as our very own treasure. She's become well-known in Hollywood, too, thanks to her roles in everything from big action spectacles ('Watchmen,' 'Rampage') to acclaimed TV comedies ('Childrens Hospital,' 'The Comeback'). The new thing: Now Åkerman is relishing one of the most fun genres yet: the juicy drama. She stars as horny small-town-Texas socialite Margo Banks in 'The Hunting Wives,' a fun adaptation of May Cobb's bestselling mystery thriller about a shy mom, Sophie (Brittany Snow), who gets into trouble when she starts hanging out with the titular swinging, hard-partying crew, led by the slightly menacing Margo. (Margo busts out her tatas as a power move during her very first scene, so you know she means business.)

Assault case camogie star gets ‘dream' prison officer job after almost being jailed herself
Champion Ashling goes from almost being in prison to now working in one A GAA All-Star has achieved her life-long dream of enrolling as a prison officer recruit – six years after her goal was almost shattered by a court case in which she pleaded guilty to two counts of assault. Seven times All-Ireland-winning inter-county camogie star Ashling Thompson took up duties as a recruit prison officer earlier this month – just a month after she openly discussed the case on a podcast in which she described the incident as the second time in her life she had hit 'rock bottom.' Sources said, as Thompson (35) was allowed escape a conviction for the assaults on condition she paid €6,000 to her victims and to charity, this meant she avoided a conviction and was able to pass the Irish Prison Service's stringent Garda vetting and security clearance checks. Speaking on the 'The Comeback' podcast with Brenda Dennehy last May, Thompson said her goal had always been to gain employment in justice system. Ashling won four All-Irelands with Cork 'I went to college and I first wanted to do something in sport but then I went away from that and armed response and the guards was the next thing. 'I don't think armed response was a thing at the time but it was always the Guards or something around special forces, a prison officer. It was always around that kind of work that I really wanted to do. 'So I ended up going to the college and doing an entrance course for the Guards and then unfortunately around that time I had a serious enough car accident.' The accident Thompson spoke of occurred when she was 22 years of age. During the podcast, Thompson spoke openly of her mental health difficulties, issues with substance abuse, her experience of coercive control, the suicide of a boyfriend and of how sport and camogie helped get her through her difficulties. She clocked up numerous honours, including four All-Irelands with Cork, three club All-Irelands with Milford, and two All Stars, and became an advocate for mental health. However, in February 2018, Thompson assaulted two women in a pub, an incident she described as her 'second rock bottom.' The incidents at the Secret Garden, Rearden's, Washington Street, Cork occurred after a day when the 29-year-old left her home in Charleville, County Cork, at 8am played a match in Offaly, returned to Cork and drank alcohol that night without having had food during the day. Thompson entered pleas of guilty to charges of assaulting Aoife O'Flaherty and Jennifer Coakley on February 25, 2018, at Secret Garden, Rearden's, Washington Street, Cork. All-Star Ashling Thompson Imposing sentence, Judge Con O'Leary said he would allow Thompson avoid a criminal on her undertaking to pay €6,000 to family refuge charities and to cover witness expenses. Speaking of the assaults and court case, she told 'The Comeback' podcast: 'I was up in court in an assault case … It was after a game … there was a lot of drink I wasn't convicted or anything … It was definitely a rock bottom for me. My understanding now of why I lost control is going back to that previous time with the car crash and the boyfriend and … those moments in my life. '

Do Call It a ‘Comeback': Lisa Kudrow's HBO Comedy Set for Third and Final Season
Two decades after it premiered — and nearly 11 years after its most recent installment — The Comeback is making another comeback. HBO announced a third, and final, season of the comedy starring Lisa Kudrow on Friday. The show, created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King (And Just Like That), will begin production later in the summer for a 2026 premiere. More from The Hollywood Reporter TV Ratings: 'The Gilded Age' Scores Best Premiere to Date With Season 3 Opener Billy Joel Two-Part Documentary Sets HBO Debut 'The Gilded Age' Is Back for Season 3: Here's Where and When to Watch the Period Drama Online The Comeback stars Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, an actress who appeared on a hit sitcom in the early 1990s who's trying to make her way back into the spotlight. The first season, which premiered in June 2005, follows her as she's cast in a new comedy, with the stipulation that she also appear in a reality show about the making of the scripted series. Season two saw Valerie cast in an HBO project about the sitcom writer who made her life hell in season one, earning widespread acclaim professionally even as her personal life was falling apart. As for season three, 'Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did,' Kudrow and King said in a statement. Added Amy Gravitt, executive vp comedy programming for HBO and Max, 'No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor. On the 20th anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO, and we can't wait to see that.' Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman and Damian Young are set to reprise their roles from past seasons. Kudrow, King, John Melfi and Bucatinsky are executive producing the final season. Friends star's cult comedy gets surprise revival 20 years after debut
A cherished cult comedy classic has been given a surprise renewal for a third season - a whole two decades after it originally aired Friends star Lisa Kudrow will return to one of her most beloved roles - but it's not Phoebe Buffay. Best known for her 10-year stint on the beloved NBC sitcom as well as recent roles in Time Bandits and Netflix 's No Good Deed, Kudrow is reprising one of her first projects after Friends' conclusion in 2004. HBO has officially confirmed their hit comedy series The Comeback will return for a third and final season. In this sharp satirical look at the glitzy world of showbiz, Kudrow portrays Valerie Cherish, a B-list television actress who briefly found fame with her sitcom I'm It! in the late 80s and early 90s. The Comeback originally aired in 2005 with its first season following Valerie after she's cast in a new network sitcom called Room and Bored and agrees to record her return to acting in a companion documentary series. Almost 10 years later, a second season aired in 2014 and featured Valerie's career taking a darker turn. This time, she's cast as a fictionalised version of herself in Seeing Red, an HBO drama about the abuse she suffered from Room and Bored's producer Paulie G (Lance Barber). Seth Rogen portrays himself in the series as he's cast as Mitch in Seeing Red, the character based on Paulie, and often comes to Valerie's aid when the real Paulie shows his true colours. A teaser trailer was released by HBO featuring Kudrow in character as Valerie confirming she's returning for a new show, but maintains this will be 'the last time'. Created by Michael Patrick King, writer of Sex and the City and the creator of its sequel series And Just Like That…, The Comeback's final season will head into production this summer for a 2026 release date on HBO and HBO Max. The Emmys have one last chance to make things right with ‘The Comeback'
If at first you don't succeed (at the Emmys), try, try again. HBO has renewed The Comeback, from Emmy winners Lisa Kudrow (Friends) and Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City), for a third and — the network swears — final season, the network announced Friday. It has been 20 years since the first season debuted in 2005, and 11 years since Season 2 aired in 2014. More from Gold Derby Marge lives! Here are 3 other 'Simpsons' characters that returned from the grave - and 3 who stayed dead Fast cars vs. killer dolls: 'F1,' 'M3GAN 2.0' gear up for box-office showdown Season 3 of the comedy series will begin production this summer with returning cast members Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a washed-up actress who's now the subject of a documentary; Dan Bucatinsky as Billy Stanton, Valerie's publicist; Laura Silverman as Jane Benson, Valerie's producer; and Damian Young as Mark Berman, Valerie's husband. The new season will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max in 2026. The Comeback is one of those that shows that TV fans often cite as being "robbed" at the Emmy Awards. Meaning it never took home a trophy in any category, and only received four total nominations. Season 1 scored three bids — for Kudrow in Best Comedy Actress, King in Best Comedy Directing, and Best Comedy Casting — while Season 2 nabbed a single Best Comedy Actress citation. It was snubbed both times in the Best Comedy Series lineup. But other awards bodies were just as guilty when it came to ignoring The Comeback. The Golden Globes blanked the show completely, and the Critics Choice Awards (which were created in between the first and second seasons), only gave Kudrow a nomination. The Comeback's only victories came from the lesser-known kudos like the Gracies, the GALECA Awards, and the International Online Cinema Awards. Our Gold Derby TV Awards were somewhat kinder, honoring The Comeback with six overall nominations, including a Best Comedy Series bid for Season 2; however, the show was shut out. Sometimes it takes awards voters a season or two to catch on to audience favorites. Remember when the Emmys didn't truly discover Will & Grace, Fleabag, or Succession until their second seasons? And then there's Schitt's Creek, which wasn't fully embraced by the Television Academy until its sixth and final season. Of course, historically lauded shows like Better Call Saul, The Good Place, and The Wire never won Emmys at all, despite the love from critics and fans. So, The Comeback would be in good company if its final episodes fail to materialize into award wins. Neither King nor Kudrow is shocked that The Comeback is returning for a third time. "Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape," they said jointly. "Neither of us are surprised she did." "No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor," said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO's comedy programming. "On the 20th anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO and we can't wait to see that."
