Soap Vet Chris Robinson Dead at 86 originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. Daytime veteran Chris Robinson has died at age 86, according to The Hollywood Reporter. News of the passing of the actor, well-known for his roles as Dr. Rick Webber on General Hospital and Jack Hamilton on The Bold and the Beautiful, was confirmed on Facebook by his collaborator, actor/musician MJ Allen. Allen stated that Robinson passed away in his sleep on Monday, June 9, at his Arizona ranch, and that his official cause of death was heart failure. Born in Florida on Nov. 5, 1938, Robinson broke on to the acting scene in the 1959 films The Diary of a High School Bride and Beast From Haunted Cave. He made many appearances on prominent TV shows like Gunsmoke and in movies such as The Young Savages before signing on to play Sandy Komansky on 12 O'Clock High from 1965 to 1967. From 1978 to 1986, Robinson starred on GH as Rick Webber, a doctor often torn between fellow docs Monica (Leslie Charleson) and Lesley (Denise Alexander). His two leading ladies in those storylines, Charleson and Alexander, both passed away earlier this year. His final GH appearance came in 2002. From 1992 to 2002, he appeared periodically on B&B as Jack Hamilton, father to Taylor Hayes (then played by Hunter Tylo), popping up there for the last time in 2005; from 1987 to 1989, he played Jason Frame on Another World. Thanks to his fame as a TV MD, Robinson appeared as a spokesperson for Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup; however, after issues related to income tax evasion, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he was replaced by Peter Bergman. He pled guilty to income tax evasion in 1985 but remained on GH; he was able to serve out his sentence on nights and weekends. Robinson's career also included writing, starring in, and directing films such as Catch the Black Sunshine and The Great Balloon Race. Robinson is survived by his wife Jacquie and his kids (Shane, Coby, Christian, Christopher, Chris, and Taylor) and grandkids (Ivy, Ava, Davey, Brooks, and Knox).
