Draymond Green rips Dillon Brooks for not shaking hands with Warriors: 'Nobody on the court respects you'
Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green is always going to speak his mind. Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks is always going to antagonize. It makes for an oil and water situation. So it should come as no surprise that Green had something to say about Brooks after the Warriors took down the Rockets in the first round of the NBA playoff. It was a contentious series, with Brooks essentially admitting he was trying to re-aggravate Stephen Curry's thumb injury with every shot. Advertisement That irked Green, but what really set him off was Brooks' refusal to shake the Warriors' hands once the series ended. Following the Warriors' 103-89 win in Game 7, Brooks ran off the court without acknowledging the Warriors. Green took Brooks to task for that decision during Tuesday's appearance on "The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis." "Dillon Brooks ran off the court. So, when I say you see what guys is made of, he ran off the court. Ain't shake nobody up. You admitted you were trying to hurt Steph's hand. Which, fine by me, bro. I get it, we all get it when you hoop. "If you're gonna be on that type of time, wear shades in the press conference. You going to be talking, you going to be Mr. Big Bad Wolf. Don't lose and then not face the music. Don't be that guy. Because, again, you lose a lot of respect for guys in that moment." Green wasn't done there. Later in the conversation, Green said no one on the court respects Brooks due to the way he acts. "Dillon Brooks couldn't come through in this series, in large part because nobody on the court respects you. So anything you do, the way it's going to be looked at, the way it's going to be received, it ain't beneficial to your team when you're trying to win championships. "When you're trying to compete at the highest level and you're that type of guy, it ain't beneficial to your team and it catch you in the ear." Brooks is known for his defensive prowess, and his ability to get under an opponent's skin. The series with the Warriors is far from the first time Brooks irked an opponent. He made waves with the Memphis Grizzlies for his heated matchups with LeBron James in the playoffs. Brooks trash talked James and even managed to get ejected after a low blow on the Lakers' superstar. Advertisement Once Brooks hit free agency, the Grizzlies leaked that they had no interest in signing Brooks to a long-term deal, a surprising — and telling — admission. That didn't stop the Rockets from handing Brooks a four-year, $86 million contract. Brooks has lived up to that deal, putting up his usual numbers while locking down opposing scorers. But for everything he does well — including frustrating his opponents — Brooks' schtick doesn't age well when his team falls flat. It doesn't help that Brooks seemingly makes things worse with the way he handles those losses.

Draymond slyly claps back at Robertson for HOFer's passing critique
Draymond slyly claps back at Robertson for HOFer's passing critique originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Draymond Green issued a stern response to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson's critique of him in the most respectful way he could. After the former 12-time NBA All-Star grilled Green for calling the league 'boring' during All-Star Weekend, the veteran Warriors forward responded to Robertson on the latest episode of his podcast, 'The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.' 'I thought those comments were very interesting,' Green told co-host Baron Davis. 'The 'Big O' is 86 years old, so if you think I'm going to come on here and disrespect because there was disrespect thrown, that ain't how I roll. I'm never going to disrespect one of the pioneers of the game because he shared a bad opinion. 'When speaking of the Big O, though … We want to enjoy our last years we got with our pioneers, the time we do have left with them, we're going to enjoy that. I'm going to enjoy these last years.' "Who cares what Draymond says" 😂😂 NBA legend and HOF'er Oscar Robertson in response to Draymond Green's comments about the NBA being boring.@TermineRadio | @TheFrankIsola — SiriusXM NBA Radio (@SiriusXMNBA) February 17, 2025 In his criticism of Green, Robertson said the Warriors forward might find today's NBA 'boring' because of how frequently he passes the ball to sharpshooting teammate Steph Curry. Green doesn't understand that criticism one bit, and pointed out what he believes to be the irony in Robertson's comments. 'When we start talking about knowing the game and how you think the game, I'm not sure what idiot wouldn't want to pass Steph Curry the ball when he's the greatest shooter of all time,' Green added. 'I don't really take that personal. Certain games I'm going to look for him even more than you're accustomed to me looking for him, because why wouldn't I? '… For a guy who averaged 11 assists [per game], you were also passing the ball. You cannot quite average 11 assists and not pass the ball. In the year that Big O won a championship when he was starting to age, you were passing the ball to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself. Not quite sure where the dig comes from.' Green also revealed that he saw and spoke with Robertson before the Kia Skills Challenge during All-Star Saturday Night at Chase Center and received plenty of praise from his soon-to-be detractor. 'During the skills challenge that I blew, I saw him on the sidelines,' Green shared. 'I got up out of my seat, I said 'hello,' and he's like, 'Man, you're still out there doing it. Keep on going, love watching you play, man. I just love watching you play, you keep going.' So to hear him say that and then the next morning he completely flipped and go opposite, I was a little surprised by that, I must say. Because it wasn't quite that same energy when I saw him.' Maybe, as Green speculates, Robertson just doesn't tune in to many Warriors games. 'Quite honestly, at 86, I'm pretty sure Big O ain't watching many of our games. Big O [is] sound asleep by the time we play at night,' Green told a giggling Davis. 'He sound asleep. There's zero percent chance Big O is up watching the Dubs.' Fair point. Draymond admits Warriors losing Wiggins in Butler trade ‘sucked'
Draymond admits Warriors losing Wiggins in Butler trade 'sucked' originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Nearly every blockbuster trade in professional sports is bittersweet. The Warriors have enjoyed what they've seen from Jimmy Butler since acquiring him in a trade before last week's NBA deadline. In doing so, though, they shipped fan favorite Andrew Wiggins to the Miami Heat along with Kyle Anderson, in addition to trading Dennis Schroder and Lindy Waters III to the Detroit Pistons in the multi-team deal. While Golden State's Butler addition was exciting for obvious reasons, it also led Draymond Green to a somber realization. 'A part of you is obviously excited. Man, we got a chance now. The switch flips fast,' Green said on 'The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.' 'And then you settle to reality like man, 'All right, so who's gone?' Wiggs, Dennis, Kyle and Lindy. And you're like, damn. Because regardless of how this year had been going, the vibe of the team was still great. You enjoy being around them every day. With Wiggs, obviously, it's been six years where we've been playing together. Watching his growth from coming to a place where everyone's saying, 'Yo, this dude's a bust, he's never going to be it,' to earning the name 'Two-Way Wiggs' and helping lead us to another championship. Collecting his first NBA ring. 'To go through that with someone, there's an obvious relationship. Now I rock with Wiggs on a different level. In Toronto every summer, kicking it with him. Been through some real stuff with Wiggs. Living a couple years and him dealing with his father being sick and being away from the team and keeping that low. We've been through some real stuff. He's had two kids since I met him. He's become a brother. To see him go, it sucked.' The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Wiggins to the Warriors in the midst of the 2019-20 NBA season and was welcomed to Golden State with open arms. It didn't take long for Dub Nation to embrace and adore him, especially during the 2021-22 season in which he helped lead the team to its fourth NBA championship in eight seasons and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. His contagious smile and humble heart made it easy for fans, teammates and coaches to connect with him. In 307 games (295 starts) over six seasons with Golden State, Wiggins averaged 16.7 points on 46.4-percent shooting from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point range, with 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 31 minutes. Green admitted it was difficult to find the right words to say goodbye to Wiggins, adding he tried to use humor to lighten the mood. 'I tried to make a joke like, 'You going to Miami, it ain't that bad of a place. You're going to save some money and taxes, send me some bread,' ' Green said. 'But just not knowing what to say.' While the initial goodbye took some time to fathom and now that the dust has settled, Green knows the move can be beneficial for all parties involved. He's excited to have Butler on his side as the Warriors push for a playoff spot, but he's also looking forward to what Wiggins will accomplish in South Beach. And the bar is set high for the newest member of Miami. 'In saying that, it's a great opportunity for him to continue to build,' Green concluded. 'He's a champion. I think he's going to go to Miami and have great years and guess what? Don't be surprised if Wiggs is an All-Star again next year.' Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast
