Lovecraftian Roguelike Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef Adds New Character
Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef gameplay
There's just something so warm, cozy, and charming about a retro-themed indie game with chunky pixels and creepy vibes. Fortunately, that perfectly describes Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef, which is getting a brand-new character added to its roster today while still in Early Access. This action roguelike co-op dungeon crawler channels the likes of Hades and Diablo but swaps out the Greek mythology and demons in favor of Lovecraftian horrors.
Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef is in development by The Fine Arc and published by First Break Labs, it's been in Early Access for exactly one year as of today. The game features up to four-player online co-op multiplayer, or you can play solo, and a really great atmospheric soundtrack. There are lots of weapons and incantation abilities to unlock as you explore the depths of the dungeons. Plus—it runs great on Steam Deck as well and is officially verified.
The big news for the game today, in addition to its 15% off sale, is that they're adding a new character named Florence to celebrate Steam's Lovecraftian Days. You can see her in action in her spotlight trailer embedded above.
As a fresh character in the game, Florence has all-new visual and audio assets, including voice lines and bespoke animations. It should definitely help add some variety for players, especially in multiplayer, to mix things up a bit more.

The developers provided an excerpt from Florence's in-universe diary to flesh out the lore a bit more as well:

Finally, today's update also introduces a new character customization system using the Wardrobe menu, in addition to other updates like improved enemy spawning and better boss battles, alongside the usual gameplay balance improvements and some UX adjustments. Not a bad update for Steam's Lovecraftian Days.
