How will the Boston Celtics build around Jaylen Brown next season?

How will the Boston Celtics build around Jaylen Brown next season? In the midst of heavy speculation about the future of the Boston Celtics heading into next season with the torn Achilles injury suffered by Jayson Tatum, which should open the door for Jaylen Brown. Since the Celtics were eliminated by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, there's been multiple avenues of conversation around the roster for next season, but Brown has made it clear that he wants to remain a Celtic moving forward. Back in 2023, Brown signed a supermax extension for $304 million, tying him as a centerpiece for the team's core, but the injury suffered by Tatum brings speculation. If Boston has to prepare for a full season without Tatum, common sense would say that the team is going to ride Brown as far as he can take them, and they may have to build their roster around him. Recently, Brown reaffirmed his desire to stick in Boston amid all roster speculation, and now it'll be up to the team to build the best possible roster around him to keep them as a contender in the Eastern Conference. Watch the video above from CLNS Media's 'The Garden Report' as they discuss Brown's desire to remain in Boston, and what the team will have to do to move forward with him. There is no doubt that Brown could be the leader of the Celtics if Tatum is out for all of the 2025-26 season, but he'll have plenty of critics to silence as the top superstar without his top running mate. Should the Boston Celtics consider a full-scale rebuild?

Should the Boston Celtics consider a full-scale rebuild? The Boston Celtics face a tough decision. Jayson Tatum's Achilles tendon injury has all but ended the current roster's championship window. As such, Brad Stevens must begin retooling the roster ahead of when Tatum eventually returns to the rotation. It's also worth noting that upon returning, Tatum will need months of game time to reach the level he was playing at before suffering his horrific injury. Therefore, we could be looking at a two-year window during which Boston isn't a contending team. Stevens has the difficult job of trying to thread the needle. He can't let the roster get too young, as it won't be at the required level once Tatum is back to himself. However, relying on aging talent is a recipe for disaster. Players in their mid-to-late 20s, specifically players in need of a new situation, will be the ideal targets. Of course, the Celtics could also choose to blow things up and begin building from the ground up. That decision would situate Tatum as the unquestioned superstar on the roster, with a team designed to bring the best out of him, both as a scorer and playmaker. During a recent episode of "The Garden Report," the hosts discussed whether entering a full rebuilding phase is something the Celtics front office should consider as we head into the offseason.
