I Am Truly Disturbed By This MAGA Voter Who Said He Finds "Entertainment" In Wearing A Fake ICE Uniform Around Immigrants

Recently, while attending the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC — which is basically Comic-Con for Republicans — comedian Jason Selvig of The Good Liars spotted He saw a man in what appeared to be a fake Immigration and Customs Enforcement (aka ICE) uniform. In a video The Good Liars shared of the moment, Jason approaches the man while asking, "Do you actually work for ICE?" "No, no," the guy responds. "Not at all." When asked to explain his outfit, the unidentified man responds, "It's 29.99 on Amazon... If you want some entertainment, wear this and go to a Home Depot in a sanctuary city like where I live right now, in Washington, DC, and you'll see all the illegals — not all of them — but you can maybe see a lot of them start to run away." "You feel like a group fitness instructor," he concludes. When Jason asks if he "thinks that's funny," the guy says, "I think it's hilarious." "There you have it everybody," Jason concludes the interview. "One of the worst people I've seen here at CPAC and that's saying something." The video quickly went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), amassing over 3.6 million views and thousands of comments. Some people praised the random man's actions, and one said those criticizing his impersonation of an ICE agent are "sensitive." Others feel that finding "entertainment" in the idea of people fearfully running away from them is a form of "hate." One commenter wrote, "there's so much hate in their hearts it's sad." "not him proving the cruelty is the point," another added. Others expressed disbelief over someone apparently spending money to do this: "Imagine being such a low-life that you buy an ICE outfit to scare people. What has this world become?" However, the majority questioned the legality behind seemingly impersonating an ICE agent in general. This leads to the important note: ICE has formerly condemned all alleged impersonations in a statement. You can watch The Good Liars' full video below. Twitter: @TheGoodLiars

Guests impacted by Trump administration cuts invited to Congressional address

OAKLAND, Calif. - Bay Area Congress members invited a diverse group of guests to attend President Trump's address before Congress on Tuesday night. Laid off federal workers, veterans, advocates for health care, social services, and civil rights were among those who went to Washington D.C. "I invited Daniel Sandecki because I wanted the president to see how his decisions are harming Americans," Congressman Sam Liccardo of San Jose said, sitting next to his guest on Capitol Hill. Sandecki is a U.S. Army veteran who had 10 years of active duty service before he was disabled. He was working as an emergency manager for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, but the Trump administration fired him. Rep. Liccardo says hours after he announced he'd invited Sandecki to Washington, the government reversed course and said they wanted to rehire Sandecki. "I'm still trying to process it. I do feel a lot of confusion. I feel a lot of tension," Sandecki said. "This isn't the tech field where you can break something and fix on the fly. If you break something while you're serving the nation and there is a stoppage of service to people in the nation who need is harder to repair." Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, (D) San Jose, also invited a former federal worker, who was laid off from the USDA in the South Bay as part of the Trump administration's cuts. "He's a veteran, Air Force veteran, he's a scientist," Rep. Lofgren said. "He got a letter firing him saying it was for poor performance, but he attached his performance was glowing about the wonderful job he was doing." Others invited guests who were advocating for social services. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi invited Elena Hung, a Medicaid advocate with the group Little Lobbyists, to express concern about the Trump administration's proposed cuts to Medicaid. East Bay Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, (D) Walnut Creek, invited Alisa Rosillo, the California leader of the Changing Spaces Campaign, who says cuts to healthcare services will impact her family directly. "The cuts that the president is suggesting to Medicaid would affect this community. There are 10 million people in the United States with disabilities, lots of kids," Rep. DeSaulnier said. "In our instance, this is the first time in 26 years I have gone without home nursing or nursing care for my son because nobody can work for that wage," Rosillo said. "I'm bringing Jason Selvig, who has a podcast called The Good Liars with a lot of viewers, especially in a younger demographic and he calls out BS, but he does it with facts," Rep. Eric Swalwell, (D) Castro Valley, said, adding that the Democratic Party needs to speak out and find better ways to communicate the party's values to the American people. "I just hope that my colleagues and I are able to convey to him, and the American people and Republican colleagues, that we are not going to let this happen without a fight," Rep. Jared Huffman, (D) San Rafael, said. Some say they hope President Trump will show willingness to work across the aisle, but if he doesn't, many Democrats are prepared to stand up and fight. "If he wants to be a partner, I'm a big boy. I'll work with him to be a partner on the issues that matter. But if he's just going to air his grievances and go after his political enemies, he'll find vocal opposition," Rep. Swalwell said.

Opinion - Dear Democrats: Stop thinking you are smarter than Republicans.

In 2004, I was on leave from the Marines and went to Ohio to visit a girl I was dating. It was right before the election between George W. Bush and John Kerry, and the Buckeye State was the swing state to decide it all. During a get together with several of her friends, some started remarking how it was unfeasible that Bush might win again. Why? Because he was 'stupid', 'dumb' and 'unintelligent.' One person even remarked about his low SAT scores and that meant she was clearly more qualified to be president than him. I was a bit baffled. Yes, Bush did the whole laid back, slow talking Texan thing and had a whole bunch of Archie Bunker-style malapropisms. But if you actually paid attention to politics, Bush was one of the most cunning and ruthless politicians ever to run for office. He could (and would) kneecap opponents by any means necessary. Look up John McCain in the 2000 South Carolina Republican primary or Kerry and the so-called 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.' Of course, Ohio and the election went to Bush. Democrats pulled out their hair and wondered how someone so 'dumb' could be president. Twenty years later, here we are again, not learning the lessons of the past. Democrats still have an air of superiority which leads them to vastly underestimate their opponents. This attitude has led to many baffling election losses in which they appear more inept than the party over which they claim intellectual superiority. Like many liberals, I have seen just about all the Jordan Klepper vignettes that he has done for 'The Daily Show,' going to Trump rallies and finding some poor souls to bait into saying incredibly stupid things. Of course, it is all edited and packaged to seem like everyone there is a nitwit, and it works. Klepper, along with other similar acts like Walter Masterson and The Good Liars have carved out a nice living making MAGAs look stupid. This act is nothing new. Jay Leno did it with the average American on the streets of Los Angeles. Jesse Watters did the same for Fox News, targeting liberals. And now, with TikTok, a whole slew of interviewers create videos intended to portray whole groups as stupid. Whether it be Americans, college kids, women, MAGA supporters or football fans, it works because it makes the viewer feel smarter. The problem is, we all buy it and then assume that this extends to everyone, in the group, including Donald Trump. As liberals, we need to be honest right now. We have treated everyone from Trump to Bush to Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) as imbecilic, then watched as they won elections and took control of the country. Maybe we need to start accepting that Republicans are just better at winning elections, and that we persistently underestimate them. One of the reasons they do this is because of education. Yes, a higher percentage of Democratic voters have college degrees than Republicans, which used to not be the case. But most Republican politicians, despite their attacks on higher education, came through higher education. Bush went to Yale and Harvard. Trump attended Penn. Vivek Ramaswamy went to Harvard, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to Princeton and Harvard, Peter Hegseth to Princeton and Harvard, Vice President JD Vance to Yale, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) to Harvard and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to Yale and Harvard. Even more Republicans went to top-notch state schools and have advanced degrees in law, business, policy and STEM fields. And while excelling at those schools, they learned a valuable lesson. Only they themselves need to be the smartest guys in the room in order to win elections. They are correct. By utilizing culture wars, populism, religious differences and faux patriotism, while building a distrust in education and government, Republican politicians are using their own educations to control government. It is about time Democrats shed the dumb Republican stereotype and start treating their political opponents as equals, if not as their intellectual superiors. Maybe then they won't be stuck on the sidelines trying to explain to their voters why they keep losing to the party they look down on.
