New Wave musician Lene Lovich to kick tour off at The Fulford Arms
New Wave musician Lene Lovich is set to perform in York.
The 1980s star will open her 11-date 2025 Toy Box tour at The Fulford Arms on Friday, May 2.
The American-British artist first gained attention with her hit single "Lucky Number" in 1979.
She also gained recognition for her 1986 collaboration "Don't Kill The Animals," with Germany's Nina Hagen.
The Gospel, a Manchester band, will support Lovich on her UK tour.
They are responsible for Gothic synth and percussion renditions of tracks like Madonna's "Like A Prayer," Spacemen 3's "Lord Can You Hear Me," and Velvet Underground's "I Found A Reason" - all accompanied by the "gravelly vocals" of LA singer/songwriter Jimmy Sweet.
The York leg of the show will be opened by UK post-punk band The InSect, headed by Ed Tuke, previously the vocalist of York export The Screaming Banshee Aircrew.
The InSect's debut album, "As It Ever Was," is due to be released this year.
