NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups March 6 - Lohrei Keeps Shooting, Big Bichsel Gets the Hits

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games. Mason Lohrei, BOS at CAR (22% rostered) Given the injuries to key players, the Bruins offense looks far less appealing from a fantasy standpoint. They can barely score more than three goals and they've lost seven of their past eight with their lone win coming against the Pens. That caps Lohrei's fantasy value but he's still worth considering due to increased shot volume. With two shots against the Preds, he's up to 22 in his past six games. Darren Raddysh, TB vs. BUF (5% rostered) Raddysh's two assists against the Jackets gives him three points in his past two games. While Victor Hedman is still their top option, Raddysh has filled in on occasion. Raddysh's production can be hard to predict it depends a lot on his usage and deployment, but past Sabres-Lightning matchups have featured some high-scoring affairs. Lian Bichsel, DAL vs. CGY (5% rostered) Bichsel returned to the lineup and registered six hits in just 13:47 TOI against the Devils following a three-game absence. He's one of the league's best high-volume hitters and the only defenseman to average over four hits per game. On home ice, the Stars will get last change and dictate the matchups, which should limit any downside value because it's highly unlikely Bichsel will see any action against the opposition's top lines. NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups March 4 - Devils' Hughes, Lightning's Raddysh Step Up

Jackson LaCombe, ANA at EDM (43% rostered) If LaCombe extends his points streak to five games, he has to be rostered in over 50 percent of Yahoo leagues. He's completely taken over as their top option. The Oilers are expected to start Calvin Pickard, who's been tough to beat than Stuart Skinner lately, but the Ducks offense has also had little trouble scoring. Note puck wizard Trevor Zegras is also eligible to return after serving a three-game suspension, which should give the Ducks offense a further boost. Luke Hughes, NJ at DAL (39% rostered) It doesn't show on the stats sheet but Hughes has been excellent lately. He's scored four assists in his past four games, and though he didn't register a point against Vegas in a 2-0 loss, he skated 27:56 to lead all Devils defensemen, and Dougie Hamilton was the only other defenseman to skate more than 20 minutes. Hughes' fantasy ceiling isn't high because he splits PP minutes with Hamilton, but his play has been trending up. Hughes provides a modest amount of blocks and hits at a bare minimum. Mason Lohrei, BOS vs. NSH (24% rostered) The increased shot volume makes Lohrei a good option. He's up to 20 shots in his past five games, which accounts for nearly one-third of his season total. With Charlie McAvoy still on the shelf, Lohrei's done a good job of generating shots from the blue line. Darren Raddysh, TB vs. CBJ (6% rostered) Really interesting that Raddysh skated 6:54 on the power play to Victor Hedman's 3:51. Raddysh has been in this spot before, and he's performed well as their PP QB. He notched an even-strength assist Monday against the Panthers and now faces a team that's been porous on defense, allowing the eighth-most goals per game and ranks 25th on the penalty kill. Lian Bichsel, DAL vs. NJ (5% rostered) Bichsel is expected to be available after missing three games due to an injury. If you're looking for a defenseman to replace Jeremy Lauzon, last season's hits leader, or just looking for hits, Bichsel is your best option. He's the only defenseman averaging over four hits per game right now. NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Goalie Pickups March 3 - Chicago's Soderblom Worth a Look If He Starts

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games Six games on Monday, March 3 * = confirmed Linus Ullmark, OTT @ Charlie Lindgren, WSH (6:30 p.m. ET) Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, BUF @ Sam Montembeault, MTL (7 p.m. ET) Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB @ Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA (7 p.m. ET) Ilya Sorokin, NYI @ Igor Shesterkin, NYR (7 p.m. ET) Alexandar Georgiev, SJ @ Anthony Stolarz, TOR (7:30 p.m. ET) Darcy Kuemper, LA @ Arvid Soderblom, CHI (8:30 p.m. ET) Arvid Soderblom © Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Arvid Soderblom, CHI vs. LA (4% rostered)Chicago's starting netminder was up in the air when this column was posted. Petr Mrazek could get the nod, though he has struggled mightily. Spencer Knight, just acquired in the Seth Jones trade, might be option, but he is more likely to play later in the week once he settles in. That leaves Soderblom, who earned his first win since Jan. 28 on Saturday. Soderblom has taken a step forward this season and could be the back up to Knight moving forward. For Monday, given the volume of shots Chicago allows, the hope is that Soderblom piles up saves, but a win might be other "back up" goalie going Monday is Alexandar Georgiev. But recommending him based on his performance would not be a wise choice by me.
