PM Al-Sudani reaffirms commitment to deliver health services across Iraq
Baghdad-INA Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani launched on Thursday, via video conference, the construction work for three hospital projects, as part of the government's efforts to develop the healthcare sector and improve medical and treatment services. 'The Prime Minister launched the construction of a 150-bed specialized hospital for pediatric cancer treatment and bone marrow transplantation at Medical City in Baghdad,' stated the Media Office of the Prime Minister in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA."The facility will include surgical operation theaters, radiology and MRI units, and a specialized outpatient clinic." The statement further stated that 'PM also launched the construction of two 100-bed hospitals in Al-Haydariya District in Najaf Governorate and Al-Majar Al-Kabir District in Maysan Governorate. These hospitals will include departments for surgery, intensive care, maternity, emergency, internal medicine, and other essential services, contributing to the improvement of healthcare delivery in both areas'. The statement also affirmed 'The Prime Minister stated that the specialized children's oncology hospital is among the most significant projects, expected to meet 40–50% of the pediatric cancer treatment demand. It will provide modern treatments using the latest medical technologies and was designed to be child- and family-friendly. He praised the contributions of business leaders and physicians to the project, calling it a humanitarian gesture and a reflection of social solidarity.' Prime Minister Al-Sudani confirmed that the hospitals in Al-Haydariya and Al-Majar Al-Kabir are part of the Iraq-China agreement, which includes the construction of 16 hospitals with a 100-bed capacity in various districts. The statement noted that 'PM Al-Sudani commend the contributions of health ministry staff and local governments in Najaf and Maysan,' highlighting that 'The government is prioritizing the construction of small and medium-sized hospitals in districts and sub-districts to deliver healthcare services nationwide and reduce workload on city hospitals'. 'This strategy addresses past planning deficiencies that focused on 500-bed hospitals, many of which were stalled,' the statement added. Prime minster Al-Sudani also stated that 'qualified companies were selected for construction based on multiple criteria to ensure accuracy, speed, and quality,' emphasizing 'the need for local governments to support the contractors to complete the projects on time'. 'The government continues to prioritize the health sector and improve service delivery and infrastructure,' PM affirmed. The statement further stated' Many hospitals have suffered from a lack of maintenance and upgrades over the years; the government is committed to completing delayed health projects,' affirming 'These efforts align with the implementation of the Health Insurance Law and the localization of pharmaceutical manufacturing as part of an integrated strategy'.

Iraq Holds Official Reception Ceremony for Egypt's Prime Minister in Baghdad
Baghdad -INA Iraq held an official reception for Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday at the Government Palace in Baghdad, where he was welcomed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. 'The ceremony included the playing of the Iraqi and Egyptian national anthems, a review of the honor guard, and a salute to the flags of both nations', according to a statement of The Prime Minister Media Office, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.. Madbouly arrived in Baghdad earlier in the day, leading a ministerial delegation on an official visit. He was received at Baghdad International Airport by Iraq's Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairi. The visit is expected to focus on strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
