Lorde quickly adds second Minneapolis show to North American tour

When Virgin arrives in June, it'll have been nearly four years since Lorde released a new record. The New Zealand-born pop star's fourth release will be accompanied by a North American and European tour that starts in September and brings her to the Armory in Minneapolis. After announcing the "Ultrasound" tour late last week, Lorde has already added a second date in Minneapolis "due to overwhelming demand," the Armory says in an announcement. The "Royals" singer will come to Downtown Minneapolis on Oct. 11 and 12 with The Japanese House and Empress Of as openers. The second show was added so quickly that the first hadn't even gone on sale to the general public. Both shows went on sale Friday, May 16.

Lorde's Ultrasound World Tour Presale Is Already Starting

What comes after Lorde summer? It's looking like Lorde fall. Not long after releasing her highly-anticipated album Virgin in June, the New Zealand artist will hit the road across the U.S., U.K., and Europe from September 17 through December 9. If the energy of her impromptu Washington Square Park performance is anything to go off of, fans can probably expect to be surprised when Lorde takes the stage. 'Every show I play is a collaboration between you and me,' she wrote in a letter to fans. 'We meet in a room and we make music together, our bodies and the machines in search of something bigger together. 12 years of meeting up and making sound that's just for us. Since last time I've been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece. Very proud and excited to be bringing my most talented friends in support.' Lorde has a handful of cool musicians joining the circuit with her, including Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack (who co-produced Virgin), and Oklou. After a surprise one-song concert at the makeshift Greenwich Village venue — that was delayed by the police — the two-time Grammy winner has announced her 'Ultrasound World Tour' in support of her forthcoming fourth studio album 'Virgin,' due out June 27. Midway through the North American leg of the international run, the 'What Was That' singer will headline at a slightly bigger Big Apple venue when she takes center stage at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Advertisement 'Every show I play is a collaboration between you and me,' the 28-year-old New Zealander shared in an email with fans. 'We meet in a room and we make music together, our bodies and the machines in search of something bigger together. 12 years of meeting up and making sound that's just for us. Since last time I've been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece.' On select dates, she'll be joined by special guests Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou. At the MSG gig, The Japanese House and Chanel Beads will serve as the opening acts. The 3.5-minute track starts small with a sparse ping pong-y backbeat behind Lorde's laid back vocals. Before you know it, the bop has gone full-blown dance pop. Consider 'What Was That' an early contender for song of the summer. If you'd like to hear for yourself, you can find 'What Was That' here. About the record, Lorde said 'I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.'
