Take a look at Aishwarya's photos from Cannes: View this post on Instagram A post shared by AishwaryaRaiBachchan (@aishwaryaraibachchan_arb) Aishwarya Rai wearing sindoor at Cannes meant two things for her fans. A section of social media users claimed that wearing sindoor on a global platform such as Cannes was her strong response to rumours of trouble in her and Abhishek Bachchan's marriage. Some netizens speculated that Aishwarya's sindoor might have been a subtle but powerful reference to Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces' retaliatory strike on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The overnight operation, conducted from May 7 to 8, was in response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Following the national operation, Aishwarya's appearance at Cannes in traditional attire with red sindoor led many online users to draw a connection. On the professional front, Aishwarya Rai was last seen in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: II, where she reprised her role as Nandini. She has yet to announce her next project. Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan appeared in the Amazon Prime original Be Happy. He will be next seen in Housefull 5 and Raja Shivaji. First Published:

Kunal Kapoor defends Jewel Thief after abysmal reviews: ‘It was never supposed to be this profound thing'
Fans were looking forward to Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Kunal Kapoor's film The Jewel Thief, which recently released on Netflix. However, the film failed to make a mark and received negative reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Now, Kunal Kapoor has come to the defense of the film, claiming that it fulfilled its primary motive — to entertain. Speaking to The Hindustan Times, Kunal said,, 'You would obviously want the film to land 100%. That is the most important thing, of course, because if people enjoy the film, they enjoy your work.' The actor claimed that the film's aim was to entertain the audience and not be 'profound' cinema. He said, 'Having said that, the reactions that I have gotten from people have shown that it did what it was supposed to do, which was entertain. It was supposed to be fun and have enough surprises to keep you engaged. That, it has done. It was never supposed to be this profound thing that changes your opinion about the world. It was supposed to be a fun ride and it has delivered on that.' The Indian Express's Shubhra Gupta gave the film one star and called it 'lazy and banal.' The film currently holds a 4.1 out of 10 rating on IMDb and a disappointing 6 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Jewel Thief also marked the return of Saif Ali Khan to the screen after he suffered a knife attack at his home in Mumbai. The film was seen as a comeback of sorts for Saif, who underwent two surgeries following the attack. The film also starred Jaideep Ahlawat, whose dance moves on the song 'Jaadu' went viral. For Kunal, too, it marked a return to the screen after four years. He was last seen in the Netflix film Ankahi Kahaniya. During the same interaction, Kunal admitted that he agreed to do The Jewel Thief because the film offered him a fresh character — an Indian Secret Service officer — something he had never played before. He said, 'It was multiple things starting with a chance to do something I haven't done before. That's the most important thing for an actor.' He added, 'This kind of character has always been my favourite. It's just unfortunate I have never had the chance to be part of one of these films.'

The knife attack on Saif Ali Khan at his home in Mumbai in January jolted the entire nation. The actor went through two surgeries. After the attack, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan heightened their security and also asked the paparazzi not to click their sons – Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan. Now, in a recent interaction, Saif opened up about surviving the attack and how he now walks with security that he isn't used to. Speaking to ETimes, Saif opened up about the traumatic experience and how it taught him to be careful about locking doors and windows of his house. The Love Aaj Kal actor insisted that everyone should 'smarten their security.' 'We have a lot, and a lot do not. So while I am grateful, we, we must understand that and be careful,' he said. And then the other thing is, the most important thing is that it's very safe and it feels very good to be there.' He added, 'The main thing really is that it's peaceful and secluded.' Saif was allegedly stabbed by Shariful Islam, who was arrested by the police after the alleged robbery attempt.
