Louise Minchin and Steph McGovern will be discussing the gripping twists and turns of their psychological thrillers, Isolation Island and Deadline with fellow crime writer Caroline Corcoran. The event, presented by The Mold Bookshop, will be at Beaufort Park Hotel, near Mold, on Friday, July 11, at 7pm. Louise is a British journalist, television presenter, and author, she began her career in broadcasting with the BBC World Service, later joining BBC Radio 5 Live in 1998. She became a familiar face on BBC Breakfast, initially as a relief presenter before taking on a permanent role in 2012. In 2020, she launched her own daytime talk show, Steph's Packed Lunch, on Channel 4, which ran until 2023. Beyond broadcasting, McGovern has been recognised for her contributions to engineering and vocational skills, receiving an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering. The Mold Bookshop has unveiled a series of literary events for May, featuring bestselling authors, celebrated crime writers, and the critically acclaimed actor and novelist, Paterson Joseph. • Jon Gower - Birdland: A Journey Around Britain on a Wing, Wednesday, May 8, at 7pm, Mold Rugby Club. Author and broadcaster Jon Gower will be talking about Britain's extraordinary birdlife and will discuss the urgent challenges posed by the climate emergency and biodiversity loss, alongside the efforts to protect our birds for future generations.
