It comes nearly two years after Ms Patterson welcomed her estranged husband's parents Don and Gail Patterson and his aunt and uncle Heather and Ian Wilkinson to her home for a beef wellington meal. Three of the guests died over the following days from death cap mushroom poisoning. Ms Patterson, 50, has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Don, Gail and Heather. She has also pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Ian. On Tuesday, the court heard the prosecution and defence give their opening addresses to the jury, who will ultimately decide Ms Patterson's fate. It was also revealed the jury will hear from Ms Patterson's ex-husband Simon, her children, toxicology and mushroom experts, and survivor of the lunch, Ian, over the course of the trial.
