Brit tourist, 68, dies after 'unprovoked' attack as he walked to Spanish resort
A British tourist has tragically died three months after he was attacked at random while on vacation in Spain.
Marshall Latham, 68, from Cheshire, was assaulted by a stranger in Fuerteventura. The retired carpenter was left in a coma with life-changing injuries after he was suddenly punched by the stranger on December 10.
He was hospitalised with serious injuries in Gran Canaria and had part of his skull removed - which measured to 14cm. Medics also drained his brain to help lower the pressure. His family launched a fundraiser and transferred him to the Aintree Hospital back in the UK.
Marshall sadly died at the Walton Centre on March 16. During his time in hospital he had suffered from pneumonia twice. His brother-in-law previously explained how he was knocked unconscious during the unprovoked attack.
He told The Nantwich News: "Lynn had gone back to their apartment, and Marsh stayed for another drink and was walking home when something has happened.
"He was hit by this guy, somewhere near a taxi rank, and he has gone down and hit his head on the concrete floor.
"Witnesses have told police this was a completely unprovoked punch, there was no argument and they did not know each other."
