This decisive win of Jordan's national team, 'The Nashama', achieved on the second to last matchday of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 tournament, secured Jordan's second-place finish in Group B. The match was held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, with Jordanian player Ali Olwan scoring all three goals for the team. Jordan's Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II was also seen at the match supporting the team alongside his brother Prince Hashem bin Abdullah. The result also confirmed South Korea's qualification, as third-placed Iraq's 2-0 defeat to South Korea ensured Iraq could no longer overtake Jordan.

Jordan has officially qualified to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after Iraq lost to South Korea just now, making it mathematically impossible for Jordan to lose the first two direct qualification spots in the Group B of the third round of AFC World Cup Qualifiers. This marks the first-ever World Cup qualification for Jordan. They previously came close in 2013 against Uruguay in the play-off match. Jordan also became the first Arab nation to officially qualify for the upcoming edition of the global competition. The Jordanian National Football Team, dubbed as 'The Nashama', meaning the chivalrous, has been on a steady rise over the last years. They scored their best-ever finish in the 2024 AFC Asian Cup by getting second place after losing to hosts Qatar. Citizens took it to the streets to celebrate the historic achievement, with many areas in the capital Amman currently deadlocked in Traffic due to the overwhelming numbers and wild celebrations. 'I wholeheartedly congratulate the sons and daughters of our dear nation on our national football team's qualification for the FIFA World Cup,' His Majesty King Abdullah II said in a statement following Jordan's historic achievement. 'This historic qualification reflects the dedication and talent of a team we are proud of — players and staff alike,' the King said on his official X account. He also extended special thanks to the loyal Jordanian fans, calling them the team's unwavering support system.

Nasham beat Palestine 3-1, move to 2nd place in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
AMMAN — The national football team, The Nashama, beat Palestine 3-1, moving again to second place in Group B in FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers with 12 points after South Nashama scored the first goal through defender Yazan Al Arab in the 3rd minute, second goal by Abdullah Nasib in the 12th minute and third goal by star player Musa Taamari, at the end of first half. Thamer Seyam scored the goal for Palestine in the 31st minute.
