Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning early reviews: Critics hail Tom Cruise-starrer as the ‘franchise's greatest film' with an ‘all-timer plane stunt'

Tom Cruise is back to lead what is being touted as the final chapter of the Mission: Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning. While fans will have to wait a few more days to see the film in theatres, early press screenings have already taken place, and first reactions from film critics are lighting up social media — only amplifying the anticipation. One early viewer on X described the film as 'an absolutely captivating send-off to the franchise's legacy,' adding, 'The Final Reckoning delivers the most emotionally rewarding payoff of any action franchise! Packed with intense, high-stakes sequences and fun callbacks in this nearly 30-year-long series.' Another echoed the enthusiasm, writing, 'MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING absolutely rocks. It cranks the stakes higher than ever before and masterfully fuses white-knuckle espionage with relentless action sequences. All hail Tom Cruise who is once again a force of nature. And the final 45 minutes? My GOD.' MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING absolutely rocks. One X user posted, 'The Final Reckoning isn't just the best Mission: Impossible movie. It might be the greatest film ever made! Emotional and gritty with mind-blowing stunts and a career-best performance from Tom Cruise. An apocalyptic all-or-nothing finale brilliantly directed by McQ.' Some reactions have been more tempered, pointing to pacing and narrative density as drawbacks. One viewer wrote, '#MissionImpossible The Final Reckoning is a mixed bag. Exhilarating set pieces, stunt work, and epic scope, but it's also plodding, overwritten, and unnecessarily convoluted. Also, nothing about this felt final. Not bad. But far from the best in this usually reliable series.' #MissionImpossible The Final Reckoning is a mixed bag. Another X user noted, 'The Final Reckoning is a thrilling, emotional & satisfying conclusion to one of cinema's greatest sagas. While it drags in the middle, this leads into a 3rd act more breath-taking & pulse-pounding than you can imagine. The plane sequence is an all-timer!' #MissionImpossible The Final Reckoning is a thrilling, emotional & satisfying conclusion to one of cinema's greatest sagas.
