New York Giants sign Darius Alexander to his rookie deal
New York Giants sign Darius Alexander to his rookie deal The New York Giants signed their third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Monday, inking defensive lineman Darius Alexander to a four-year deal worth a reported $6.7 million. Alexander was the 65th overall selection in Round 3 out of Toledo and was high on the team's radar. He was mocked as early as the second round by several top draft analysts. "A 3-technique that we did a lot of work on. He came in on a 30 visit as well, was down at the Senior Bowl, and just where we are, we felt we needed to add some youth to the defensive line, and this kid is just under 6'4", 315 pounds, 34-inch arms and freaky athletic," said Giants general manager Joe Schoen after drafting Alexander. "Down at the Senior Bowl and he had a really good week, and (defensive line coach) Dre Patterson, thinks the world of him and (assistant defensive line coach) Bryan Cox and getting a guy like this that can come in and develop with the depth that we have. Again, a high ceiling for this player, so we're excited to add another player to our front seven." Alexander is expected to see extensive playing time as a rookie next to All-Pro Dexter Lawrence. "I love taking my opponents' will and just watching them go to the sideline and I know what to say to the coach. I feel like that's something they do well here, too," Alexander said in his introductory press conference. "That's a great group of d-line guys, and I feel like I come in and do that, as well." The signing leaves just fourth-round pick Cam Skattebo as the lone unsigned player from the Giants' draft class.

See it: New York Giants great Howard Cross latest to address 2025 squad
See it: New York Giants great Howard Cross latest to address 2025 squad The New York Giants have had a parade of former stars pass through the doors of their training facility this spring to address the team, most notably Hall of Famers Lawrence Taylor and Michael Strahan and future Hall of Famer Eli Manning. This week, it was Howard Cross' turn. The former tight end who played 13 seasons for the Giants from 1989-2001 and earned a Super Bowl XXV ring, has been a constant in the building for decades as he has been part of the club's broadcast team since 2007. Cross delivered a message centered around defending one's turf. Having the distinction of playing for two of the game's greatest coaches -- Bear Bryant at Alabama and Bill Parcells here with the Giants -- when Cross speaks, he's worth listening to. Cross is the only player to play in Super Bowl XXV and XXXV with the Giants. His 207 games played in a Giants uniform rank third in franchise history behind Manning (236) and Strahan (216).

New York Giants sign Abdul Carter to rookie contract
New York Giants sign Abdul Carter to rookie contract The New York Giants have officially signed first-round pick Abdul Carter to his rookie contract -- a four-year, fully guaranteed $45.3 million deal with a $29.5 million signing bonus. Carter, whom the Giants selected No. 3 overall in the 2025 NFL draft, becomes the fourth member of the team's class to sign. "He's a great kid, and he's an exceptional player. He's got great quickness, bend, he's hard to block. He played off the ball the year before, and he has some instincts in that area, as well, smart. Just had a really good meeting with him, and then he was up here -- fun guy to evaluate," head coach Brian Daboll said after Carter's selection. After attempting to unretire both No. 56 and No. 11, belonging to Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms, respectively, Carter settled on No. 51, last worn by Azeez Ojulari. In his new number, Carter will attempt to create his own legacy. "Abdul is one of those guys that as a true freshman jumped off the film. If you're just watching anybody against Penn State, he's playing off the ball, he's moving at a different speed than everybody else," general manager Joe Schoen said. Carter joins offensive lineman Marcus Mbow, tight end Thomas Fidone II, and cornerback Korie Black as members of the rookie class who have signed their contracts. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, and defensive tackle Darius Alexander remain unsigned.

New York Giants say Russell Wilson will be starting QB in 2025; Jaxson Dart will sit
New York Giants say Russell Wilson will be starting QB in 2025; Jaxson Dart will sit The New York Giants found their quarterback of the future on Thursday night, trading up and selecting Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss with the 25th pick in the 2025 NFL draft. "I think he's got a lot of qualities you look for in a good quarterback. He's tough, makes good decisions with the football, pushes the ball down the field, has athletic ability, played in a really tough conference, started there at USC as a young guy. But did a really good job throughout this process of our meetings, board work, workouts and the tape that we liked," head coach Brian Daboll said. Despite the cost of acquiring Dart and the praise he received from Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, fans should not expect to see him on the field during the regular season. The Giants signed veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million in incentives in free agency and confirmed he will be their starter this coming season. Dart will sit behind both Wilson and Jameis Winston as he develops. "Russ will be our starter, and that's how it'll be once we get started here in the spring," Daboll said. "So we're going to do everything we can to develop (Dart) and bring him along. We have some good quarterbacks in the room relative to playtime, experience, some medals on the wall, if you will." For Dart, being a bit lower on the depth chart will be a new experience but one he's willing to embrace. He understands his role as a rookie and doesn't intend to make waves. "It's definitely new, but for me, this is just where my journey starts," he said. "I'm stepping into an amazing room with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback who can see it from a different lens at such an elite level. I can't wait to go learn from him, go learn from all the other guys in Tommy (DeVito) and Jameis in the room, and then just the team as a whole." Even if Wilson stumbles or goes down this season, Winston will be the next man up. Dart will see action in the preseason but that's going to be about it.

Russell Wilson's 6-Word Message to Jameis Winston After Signing Giants Contract
The New York Giants have been collecting quarterbacks this offseason. The team started by bringing back Tommy DeVito on a one-year, $1.03 million deal, then New York brought in Jameis Winston on a two-year, $8 million deal, and on Wednesday, the Giants officially signed Russell Wilson to a one-year, $10.5 million contract that can be worth up to $21 million with added incentives. '#Giants QB Russell Wilson's $10.5M deal includes a complicated incentive package that can be worth up to $7.5M more based on a variety of play-time, performance & playoff incentives,' NFL Network's Ian Rapoport wrote. 'Also up to $3M is available ($176.5K per game) based on wins and playing more than 50% plays.' Advertisement Before Wilson was signed, many believed that Winston, who threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and went 2-5 as the Cleveland Browns' starter last season, would be New York's starting QB and effective placeholder in 2025 for whichever passer the team drafted next month. Former Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston claps as he takes the field for warm ups against the Miami Galvin-Imagn Images However, after what Wilson said during his introductory press conference on Wednesday, it now appears that Winston will be the No. 2 guy behind Wilson. 'I expect to be the starter,' Wilson told reporters after officially putting pen to paper on his one-year deal. While Wilson's declaration likely didn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who's compared his and Winston's NFL resumes, it does add an intriguing new wrinkle for those who believed just 24 hours prior that New York would have an open quarterback competition heading into camp. Advertisement ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that even if the Giants signed Wilson, and though they already have two other QBs under contract, it wouldn't stop them from taking Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders with the No. 3 overall pick in next month's draft. Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson warms up against the Cleveland Blaze-Imagn Images Sanders has been linked to the Giants for months, and he even wore Giants-themed cleats during the Alamo Bowl back in December. If New York does take Sanders, it's expected Winston will back up Wilson with Sanders and DeVito battling for the No. 3 job in training camp and the preseason, which would allow the Giants to develop the 23-year-old QB at whatever pace he's comfortable with.
