James Blunt reveals REAL meaning behind 'You're Beautiful' on 20th Anniversary
Two decades after its release, James Blunt has finally revealed the real meaning behind his iconic ballad 'You're Beautiful'.
In a video posted on Friday, the British singer marked the song's 20th anniversary by candidly admitting that the track, long perceived to be a romantic ballad, actually had a different interpretation all along.
'Twenty years ago today, I released a song that bought me this house,' Blunt says in the video. He continued, 'Whoever thought a song about being high as a kite on drugs, stalking someone else's girlfriend, would resonate quite so much?'
Blunt concluded the clip saying, 'Thank you' to his fans, adding, 'You guys are beautiful.'
Reacting to his candid and hilarious revelation, a fan commented, "It's the most beautiful stalking song ever made, just edging out Every Breath You Take by The Police.."
Another said, "I didn't realise it was a song about stalking. However, after viewing this rather strange video, I get it."
Still another reflected on the clip and said, "I tell you what, I've always believed music's at its finest when it's telling a story, no matter how twisted or unconventional that story might be. And if that story can resonate with people, make them feel something, even if it's just a little bit uncomfortable, well then, that's a success in my book."
