Hundreds of students will be part of QC Youth Conference, Davenport

The Quad Cities Youth Conference will engage more than 900 area students this month in the 39th annual Quad Cities Youth Conference and the 40th celebration as an organization. QCYC was established in 1985, according to a news release. The conference will welcome students from seven counties across Illinois and Iowa to the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport. 'The conference continues its legacy of creating a safe space for meaningful dialogue, providing resources beyond traditional classroom learning, empowering students to navigate complex personal and social challenges and connecting youth with local agencies and institutions,' the release says. Monday, Feb. 24 is Middle School Day for grades 7-8 and Tuesday, Feb. 25, is High School Day for grades 9-12. Among the features will be student-selected breakout sessions, a community resource fair, lunch and midday entertainment. Participating counties from Illinois are Rock Island, Henry, Knox, Whiteside; and from Iowa, Scott, Clinton, and Muscatine. Keynote speaker will be Rockford native Landon Ballard, 'Bouncing Back: A Personal Reflection on Addiction, Recovery, and Resilience,' sharing his transformative journey, including insights from his work with MWAH! Performing Arts Troupe. Special entertainment will be Quad Cities native Torrian Ball, who brings a 'powerful narrative of resilience' in his story of how he overcame a near-fatal car accident that left him paralyzed in addition to the tremendous loss of loved ones during this time. He is a musician who has collaborated with Wiz Khalifa and many other reputable artists, and has garnered millions of views across digital platforms as an independent touring artist. About the Quad Cities Youth Conference For 40 years, the Quad Cities Youth Conference has provided safe, supportive environments for students to explore critical topics including mental health awareness, stress management, internet safety, suicide prevention, gender and sexuality, and personal resilience.
